FAP800 IR Bar Lasers

I'm restoring this thread since I finally found where the original photos were hosted. Sorry for removing it to begin with.

This is just a couple of the FAP800 bar laser modules and diodes that I had purchased.

Re: Proof that the 50W CW FAP800 exists

Bob -- Have you tried making green with one of these yet? Might make for an interesting project.
Good info here and nice pix.

Re: Proof that the 50W CW FAP800 exists

Interestingly the guts of the 50W and 40W are the same, the 40w has lower efficiency though. You can push these to 60W without a problem if you keep 'em cool :D

Re: Proof that the 50W CW FAP800 exists

I'll bet those are monsters when powered up

Re: Proof that the 50W CW FAP800 exists

Bob -- Good info -- especially the part about the aixiz plastic !!! I chipped a nice glass lens several times with my SSY-1!! This is a fun hobby!

Re: Proof that the 50W CW FAP800 exists

First I wanna say this is the absolute best laser forum, with the most laser savvy folks around.:beer:That said,

I am very new to this hobby, and would like to ask what is a coherent laser in contrast to a diode laser, and how are these powered? I am looking at a Coherent Diode Laser Module FAP800 12 Watt 808nm on EBay and am wanting to know where they fit in to the grand scheme of things, what they are used for, and how difficult they are to work with.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and helping me learn about lasers.

Re: Proof that the 50W CW FAP800 exists

^ lol I'm looking at that same one. The hard part is getting a power supply for it. I'm currently trying to locate parts for one.

Re: Proof that the 50W CW FAP800 exists

Howdy Bob say how much dose a beast like this eat anyway will I have to take out a loan to buy a power supply or will golf cart batteries work LOL. inquireing minds want to know... Thanks !

Re: Proof that the 50W CW FAP800 exists

Bob --

I got a FAP800 -12W-806. Is the threshold over 3 amps? Looking at info for the 16 Watt, I may need about 9 amps for it to start. Any idea about Max current?

Re: Proof that the 50W CW FAP800 exists

I have a FAP-I FAP800 50w, i have yet to buy a driver for it though, but i am going to make three dpss-fd attachments to it though.
532nm
473nm
671nm
The FAP800 is integrated and has the TEC built in. I bought it from ebay, for around £120 but i did have to pay about a £100 for P&P and Customs Charges, but it cost that for the 1W WL Arctic S3 so a bargain in reality.

Re: FAP800 IR Bar Lasers

:( I miss Bob. He was awesome.
Thank you for those kind words. I'm back again.

I finally found the hosted images that belonged to this thread and restored the OP. I am unable to fix the thread title so I just put the title in the OP. I restored this thread because I have been getting questions about the high power bar lasers that this thread was about.
