Presale: The Ben Boost

Jander - I'm not at all familiar with the flex (never use them). Would they require heatsinking at 1.2A ?

Ideally... yes they get warm to hot at that level depending on run time you can put a small chunk of material on the 5 pin chip and walk away anything over that definatly have to sink the more the better.

I like this driver for 12x or any 405nm on our horizon its the one... if you could get that resistor pad turned to a pot like on the microboost you could sell them I don't know 15.00 bucks all day.

Just Kang the flex using the purple driver board... it's what we all are thinking anyway I just said it out loud just now:whistle::san:

Hey Moh, can you set the driver at let's say... 450mA?
You never reply to my PMs -_-

I've been waiting for the JAD kit, and the tracking hasn't updated in awhile. I was just wondering if you actually shipped it out yet, or only got the shipping label.

PM sent.

I literally just finished your kit. I'm running behind on kits. Thank god i only have about 5 more to do and i'll be sold out and they'll be gone. It's not that i'm swamped with orders, it's just that it takes so long to assemble these things when you have 20 of them in front of you.
If it felt like i was ignoring you, i'm sorry. Your not the only one who's order is delayed. I've also got 2 kits packaged up there were ordered on the 17th, and are just now going out.
I'll probably just have to offer the parts for sale as a bundle, unassembled in the future, and just include the little heatsink and some 1cc syringes with thermal epoxy and silicone wire so people can assemble it on their own.

as for the boost driver, I've already got a batch of like 7 or 8 different resistors for these drivers. Once I run out of them i'll probably choose the resistors more carefully to hit all the most popular settings.

I'm actually cool with that - let me know when you do!

No problem, thanks for the info! I just like to be informed lol. I am anxious to get the kit. I have all the other parts ready at home, now I just need the host and driver :D IT'S KILLING ME O_O haha.

I'll be sure to get back with you one day to buy this boost driver for my next build. I'm making a 405nm laser, but I wanted to get the highest output without killing the diode haha. I hope you get more resistors for the driver by then. Good luck and thanks!

Running one at 926mA very stable on a 445nm A-140... its was originally at 1.256A although it never reached that (1219) not to bad... I scraped off the R2 to get the 926mA value.

It was hot even after heat sinking with a aluminum chip half the size of the driver. Next I'm going to purchase a second DDM to read the forward voltage, but 5.1/5.3V would seem likely.

Wish someone would spearhead a thread on perfomance and other data on these. My posting have been to irregular for this kind of responsibility.

I would love for someone to start a tech thread for these drivers. I don't have the equipment to do all the tests. I'm mostly missing an adjustable PSU.

I'm just the worker bee putting them together.

Maybe take some IR thermometer readings to see how close the settings get to thermal shutdown would be awesome.

I will when I get mine... I have many ir thermometers... Ya want F or C ?
I still work in F. I got Jeff's stuff today! So happy it was packed so nice. Love the bisiness card!! Going to test outputs this weekend.. Wont see any mail now till monday so nothing from HK and NoMo dtr or rhd... I was expecting my hk orders though... Eh I allmost baught 100 of them 14500's 3$ each free shipping!! when my alternative is 8$ each and 30$ shipping!

How accurate are those things? My wife got me one as a fun gift for Christmas and we measured everything we could until we got bored. They are neat.

haha Hope it's not just a chunk of copper... though the pics arent thesame.. there is a missing cap or resistor... must B an older model...
