Last years transit of Venus. Our astro group had a very successful public outreach event to show the public this "last in a lifetime" event.

People lined up at me hydrogen alpha scope


Maybe my fav pic is of this boy "Hunter" who is a family friend looking through one of my other scopes with a white light filter at the sun watching Venus cross.


A quick shot through my white light scope of the transit. Biggest dot is Venus. The rest are sunspots.

Took a picture of the Andromeda galaxy last night... and the galaxy right next to it, M110. :D

Have yet to experience with astro-photography.

Did you get the 200mm f/2.8 prime or 70-200mm?


Edit: Just saw your post on FB, the 70-200mm is such a nice lense. Took around hundred shots with it a few weeks ago. Do you have the IS II version?

I've got the IS I. I didn't think the upgrade was worth an additional $1,000 over what I paid. :p
