This is in a Aurora SH-032 stainless steel host
18650 cell
Casio A130 diode
Flexdrive v.5 At 750mA
Output is 604mW:) using aixiz 405nm glass

I just did a test on the A140 445nm LD I got from Dan on PL...
I installed it into an Aixiz Module using the same 405 G-1 lens
I used to test the A130 in Post #204 of this Thread..
It is also mounted in a Z-Bolt clam shell heat sink..

Here are my results...
I tested in 100mW increments and stopped at 1500mW..
I used an Opto Power Corporation OPC-PS4005 Laser
Diode Driver and our Newport 1825C LPM with a Thermopile
Sensor as the last test.

It is to be noted that on both tests the resolution of the
current was limited to 10mA so the readings indicated could
be 1 to 9 mA more...

Starts lasing @ 3.77V -- 7mW

050mW ---- 260mA ---- 3.82V
100mW ---- 300mA ---- 3.87V
200mW ---- 370mA ---- 3.95V
300mW ---- 440mA ---- 4.02V
400mW ---- 510mA ---- 4.08V
500mW ---- 580mA ---- 4.13V
600mW ---- 650mA ---- 4.17V
700mW ---- 720mA ---- 4.21V
800mW ---- 790mA ---- 4.25V
900mW ---- 880mA ---- 4.28V
1000mW -- 960mA ---- 4.31V
1100mW -- 1050mA --- 4.34V
1200mW -- 1150mA --- 4.36V
1300mW -- 1260mA --- 4.39V
1400mW -- 1380mA --- 4.42V
1500mW -- 1570mA --- 4.45V

The readings are a bit different from my A130 test... but that could
also be due to perhaps the A130 was a low end binned LD or the
A140 was an extremely high end binned LD...

To really know if the A140 LD are better we need more tests by
other members... The tests I performed are not destructive... and can
be done by anyone that has an LPM and DMM...
These tests will not blow your 445nm Laser Diode if you keep the tests
under 1200mW and follow a few standard safety measures... IMO

Once I find more time and more 445nm LDs I'll do some ome of these
tests to get a better Average Idea of what these LDs are..

@lasersbee

I made comparison plots of the data you posted about your A130 and A140 diodes.

P/I/V plot:

Efficiency plot:

The A140 diode not only needs less current to produce the same power, but also has lower voltage drop.
Both diodes have highest efficiency around 1000mA...

That is a pretty large amount of roll-over...enough to make me want to actually put mine on a pulsed source and test it and see how high it gets when the L-I curve can stay linear.

@LB ---

@FF-R Your data is sooo close to mine, it's amazing. Is this an ElectroF diode like mine?

HMike

HMike,
What method do you use to plot your data. Should we try to establish some sort of recommended method for those of us that have high end test equipment? (I know my LaserCheck has met it's end of life).
I am just wondering... Measure Voltage threshold, were to start Ma supply, cycle time, Warm up, Cool Down, Test increments, Etc.

Quick update to my #3 Kevin , after using a 405g-1 lens its shooting out 1150mW , and the mA to mW is usually 1:1 , should be also about 1150mA.

Hello everyone, I bought Jayrobs fine 18650 Kit for the 445nm, it was built by Jayrob using the Hot option and I opted for the Copper heatsink made longer and the pill drilled out; using the microboost driver set by Jayrob to 800ma.

My A140 Diode just arrived today and I just finished putting it in the kit. I have a AixiZ glass lens and I getting 605mw with it, and with the AixiZ Acrylic I'm getting a little better output @ 615mW with a darn perfect dot. :)

I'm waiting on a AixiZ 405 lens to see if the output goes higher. It's a fine build but with the A140 Diode and it pre-set to 800ma I was expecting more output.

Still it is a beautiful beam and color, I don't know if I should try and turn the power up or wait for the AixiZ 405nm Glass lens first; as I'm not sure if I'll melt the Acrylic lens.

It's about right for a normal efficiency 445 diode from the three that I have built... (one is an A140)

The AixiZ 405 lens will give you about 8% more power vs AixiZ acrylic. (back opened)

My 405-G-1 will be about 23% more power vs AixiZ acrylic.

615mW's X 23% will be about 756mW's with 405-G-1...

But the new AixiZ lenses coming will be coated for 445. So hopefully we will get better than 8% with the new batch...

I will be adding the test results of the new lens to my lens comparison thread:

Yes, hakzaw1 told me, and then I verified with Chuck from AixiZ on the phone today...

All of the lenses that are on back order, will be coated for 445nm (400 - 500), with full length theads. So the wait should be worth it...

I have the test results from the old AixiZ 405 lens recorded in my lens comparison thread. And I have my three builds. So I will be comparing the lens with the new coating, and adding the information as soon as I get my lenses...

I have 80 on order. But about 50 of them are already spoken for...

Where do you find the Opto Power Corporation OPC-PS4005 Laser Driver at? I want to put together a test bed using the Z-bolt heatshink with a fan and that Driver, I've looked around can't seem to find that one and perhaps PS used too; any pictures of the whole setup?

The Opto Power Corporation OPC-PS4005 Laser Driver is a 40 Amp
lab LD Driver.
Here is a pic....
