Post your: Desk/Work area!

Jerry you have MANY parts bins!

Then I consider.. wow, you have many parts bin drawers!

And then I see how you must have MANY MANY parts!

Very nice and organized. What are the trophies from?

The trophies were for a car that I scratch built and entered
in the Montreal Autosport Show in 1993... Third place in
my HomeBuilt category..

@ Meatball.... yeah.... so many parts... so little time...

Here's a few pics of my work area...
Don't mind the mess... I'm working on a few
projects at the same time...
The photo are also a bit out of focus...

Now thats a nice setup

Im working with about half the room, cabinets, drawer etc.. Problem
is, the more parts you acquire, the harder they are to keep track of.
I've got 3 of the same plastic drawers in that pic, filled them the first day.
Have to get more than find room for the cabinets... :undecided:

I put a box of stuff away, forget, then end up buying more of whatever
I forgot that I already had lol... vicious circle sometimes :tired:

Yes that is a SONY CRT monitor that I was given...

The shop is 26' X 40' taking up 1/2 of an 80' long 2 door garage.
The other half has my new milling room and my other big boy toys...

@ Wannaburn....
I have hundreds of small drawers and when I need something
90% of the time I know exactly where it is...
Other times I know where in the general vicinity something is...
The trick is to ALWAYS put stuff in the same area and don't let
the little woman in to clean... or you'll never find anything...

The thing I'm always looking for my close up work glasses...
I must hunt for them at least 3 times a day...
but finding parts... no problem...

If there is one important thing I have learned since getting into
lasers and electronics is how to organize better. Though I dont think
im finished yet.

Most of the stuff I make is random, and the lack of
consistency makes it difficult to keep things in order. I wont need
the same part twice for weeks apart if not longer. By the time I have
to use something again, I forget where they are..

Not as bad as when I had less room to work. Seems to be getting
better by the sq. ft.

LOL, I got 2 little women to contend with, one of them kicks me out
to get in some build time :D

Funny thing is, I sat her in the chair and she started fitting pieces
together.. I moved anything dangerous and just watched.

Child labor! She's making all your lasers isn't she!?

Right now shes quality control for machined parts / tolerances. :san:

All she needs is a cup of juice, and her favorite show on the PC monitor..
Well that and the occasional nap and cookie break..

This is my desk in it's clean state, when Im actually doing anything other than just sitting in the chair like soldering/painting you can't see the surface of the desk or floor :)

Nice layout Laserbee! :D I enjoy this continous thread & seeing how other people's workspaces are layed out

My sanctum at home is still a work in progress, where my wish list (Laser addiction) keeps growing, as well. :shhh:

Edit: Apr 2014 - My Office at Work:

Is that uranium glass-work in the cabinets?

Yes, it is. Top of each cabinet has a 3W UV LED flood lamp, and the shelves are lined with UV LED strip lighting. I normally work with the office fluorescent lighting off, with only my desk lamp, monitors, and the glow from the uranium glass for illumination.
