I don't think <5mW reds really count. I mean, almost everybody has one, right?

I wouldn't classify the ones doing it as hobbyists/enthusiasts, but the point is that they were using lasers in a way that not only pissed me off, but could have caused some serious problems... shining a laser into the eyes of someone on the road is an obvious no-no.

I second that, randomlugia. Pierce, in the Oceanside story did you end up seeing the person that was the source of the other beam?

peace & thanks

I think it was the guy next to me on the pier, but I didn't ask.

@ RA_pierce I'm sorry to hear your stats show 60% I was hoping for something less than 25% of idiots out there.

Sadly, I think the % of people using lasers irresponsibly is much higher than 60%.
I doubt everyone who has ever bought a >50mW laser from DealExtreme knows anything about laser safety (or cares). As far as I know, the only people who really know and care about using hand-held lasers safely are the ones who frequent this forum.

Believe me, if anyone decides it's a good idea to shine anything brighter than a 5mW in my face, that laser is going straight up their @sshole.

If you want to use it for protection you just aim it at the feet of the stalker and mention that this particular laser will melt your retinas in less than a second. You don't want to rob me blind now do ya huh punk!? :gun:

I usually get awe, once I got a kid who freaked out and was quite aware of the danger, maybe a bit too aware.:p I had my greenie pen and my 200mW o-like.

Flaminpyro- No it's not illegal, but cops can confiscate whatever they want, whenever they want. Especially if they see it as dangerous, they have all rights to take the laser from you.

It's very difficult to prove a cop being unjust unless you can record what they say given that they say something they shouldn't have said.

Hey Lugia do you have resident evil 4 for the PS3?

Oh ok I'll just start a whole brand new thread just to ask you a question, good god

Private message you say? Don't you know you have to give the person flowers before you share a private message??

Well I never!
:p

People here ask me if it's illegal because thre is an airport next to the city...
Anyway after asking that they say: *gasp* *jaw hits the floor* um EXCUSEMESIRWHEREDIDYOUGETTHAT?? lol

pffft. 90% of the time, it's just completely ignore it. Oh they see it, but are blatanly ignoring it. If I do get someone who is intrigued, it's "whats' it good for?"

The intro to Laser Rap Part II says it all :D

"What... the f*ck? What the FFFUUUUUUUU***KK!?!?! AHHHHHH!! OOOHHHHH!!!! o0o0o0o0o0oo!!! OH MY!!! OH MY!!!!"

If that isn't your friend's reaction, you don't share a common interest; they're not your friends.

It's also interesting to note that the reactions vary greatly depending on what kind of place/town/neighborhood it's in... generally I get better (more interested and amazed) reactions from wealthier neighborhoods/areas and stoner neighborhoods. Just a "trend" I seem to notice. Once again, it varies greatly with where you're at, because I can't even count how many times I've gotten random strangers to stop, turn around, and come up to me to ask about it; after reading what some of you guys have posted, I am very sorry to understand that my case isn't very common :(

peace & thanks
