I don't think <5mW reds really count. I mean, almost everybody has one, right?
I wouldn't classify the ones doing it as hobbyists/enthusiasts, but the point is that they were using lasers in a way that not only pissed me off, but could have caused some serious problems... shining a laser into the eyes of someone on the road is an obvious no-no.
I second that, randomlugia. Pierce, in the Oceanside story did you end up seeing the person that was the source of the other beam?
peace & thanks

I think it was the guy next to me on the pier, but I didn't ask.
@ RA_pierce I'm sorry to hear your stats show 60% I was hoping for something less than 25% of idiots out there.
Sadly, I think the % of people using lasers irresponsibly is much higher than 60%.
I doubt everyone who has ever bought a >50mW laser from DealExtreme knows anything about laser safety (or cares). As far as I know, the only people who really know and care about using hand-held lasers safely are the ones who frequent this forum.
Believe me, if anyone decides it's a good idea to shine anything brighter than a 5mW in my face, that laser is going straight up their @sshole.
