Pocket Mini Red finished.

Yeah :) For my first handheld, I am happy to see it works just fine :D
The only thing is that there is a line that cuts the dot in 2. I couldn't get a picture of it though. Hope you understand what I mean. Is there anything I can do to make that line disappear?

That line appears in several of my red lasers. I honestly have no idea why it's there. All that I can say is from what I can tell, it's rather normal for that to be there. Maybe someone else can explain it?

I do know that some of my lenses do tend to make that line go away.:)
What lense are you using?
I will mess around with my lasers tonight. I still might have a lense that gets rid of that line. If I do, I might be able to send it to you or tell you where to get one at.

Also, make sure that your lense is perfectly clean.

FYI: Blu-Ray or at least PHR diodes don't do that.:)

I am using an aixiz glass lens from aixiz.com

Hmm....not sure what to tell ya. I will check my red laser tonight and I will post again.
I really don't have much knowledge in this area and I don't want to stear you wrong....so hopefully someone else can help?

Dun worry lol. It's k.. You have been a great help so far ;)
It's not a serious problem about that line. It just comes and disappears every now and then ^^

Dissapears? hmm....maybe your pushing your diode to hard.

It looks like this right?
on the left is the focused dot and on the right is a very large unfocused dot.

I have found that most people don't understand my laser addiction. :(
Also the flexdrive becomes very sensitive once you get past 370mA with an LPC-815. I blew a LPC by doing exactly what you described doing. My advice....don't do it. Keep it as is.

Be safe. :)
Yea it's sensitive the pot is a one turn pot...so for

you to have the 1st zone on the flexdrive on... no problem up to 97mA's
for the PHR diode...100mA's on the LOC.

If you had the 2nd zone on for the flexdrive 100-320mA setting then for a PHR if you had your DVM set for mA and started your ramp up settings their is no way your hand could be still enough for those settings w/out blowing up the diode.

for the LOC settings in the 3rd zone you would be allright , but if you
went over the point to where it was reset:yabbem: diodes don't light that behavior...
and I would not suggest that same as the fourth zone don't even try that without a dummy load. Hope this helps...

So, can I turn the pot of the flex counter clockwise to increase the output current and make my laser more powerful? Because look, it should have been more bright as the flex had preset current( considering a preset current of 420mA gives you >200mW). Maybe the pot had been turned a bit making my laser less powerful. I don't know. What you guys think? Thanks in advance

I thought I knew where the beginning/lowest setting on my flexdrive was, but after playing with a few of them I'm not so sure. I thought the pot was set about the halfway point when shipped. I admit I didn't use a dummy load, but only because I figured the range it was set on (412mA max) wouldn't hurt my LPC diode.
I have noticed on my v4 flexdrives that turning the pot counter clockwise does lower the current....until it hits the lowest setting, then it goes to the highest setting... Then it continues to lower until it hits the "dead space" point on the pot where no current flows. I have spun the pot around several times just to see if it would break, and continued to get the same results.
I forgot to mention I used a laserbee lpm to check my findings.

^^ silvershot asked about turning the pot on a flexdrive counterclockwise in his "first" post.

vv LOL. Oops.

Ok, besides that, the damned tail button doesn't work again. I have to find something to unscrew it all the way out and fix it once and for all!

Send me the back 'barrel' end of the host and I will fix the tail button for you...

PM me for shipping address.

See a beam from a LOC red from a mile away? Are you kidding me. I can barely see it from 30FT away. 200+mW......Is it foggy where you live? Wow...now I am worried that my 20-20 vision, isn't 20-20 anymore. :(

Actualy it is quite foggy here, i live in Asheville NC, USA in the mountains. were at a pretty high elevation here and it usualy moist and foggy. even on warm days we still get condensation all over our cars. i never thought of that. i bet i get WAY awsome beam characteristics up here than say at sea level. interesting.
