PLT5 488nm diode for <300$?

I could post a feeler, and see what interest we could get

I was sure that ZRaffleticket was very interested in this diode and it was just a matter of sending the money and I would ship the diode out. What happened? :whistle:

Sounds good :beer:

@Paul, what current was this Diode pulling for the 488nm result?

It turned out to be far too high..... around 280 mA. It gets very hot at that current, thus the wavelength shift. This diode is much happier at 150 mA. I have doubts about its longevity at 488nm.

@Paul,
I believe Joey might consider a group buy for more of these from his source? or atleast start a feeler and let another member take over the GB.

@ZRaffleticket, some rare wavelegths in your sig now!

Yeah, I saw that after going back though some earlier posts. I wonder what kind of discount we could get for several of these at one time? I'll be watching. :yh:

Sorry(for the 3rd time) about the lack of updates on this I was getting notified every time someone posted but then it just stopped so I figured it had gone quiet for a bit. Anyways yes, I was considering doing a group buy for these but the one that we have is currently sold to Zraffleticket pending payment. I sent him my info today, It was my fault for not checking back here.

Have you tried asking these guys for a price on genuine Osram PLT5-488nm 60mW diodes?

Maybe they sell at lower cost that Western distributors

See: ?????????????

The only problem I see with that is that it lists the diode as 450nm later on...

Web site typo more than likely. They say MW not mW also.
They list Osram PL450B also.

Can't hurt to ask them--they look legit--at least they have a web site and appear to be a real business.

They claim most diode makers as partners, here : ?????????????

I'll go ahead and see what they have to offer me as far as specsheets and such to confirm they mean 488nm, and also see what their prices are.
