PLT5 488nm diode for <300$?

I did some further testing last night and I think this diode is much happier being a 483nm to 485nm diode. I was checking for artifacts in the beam, like the hole in the "495nm" diode, but this one doesn't have that. I also used an acrylic lens and found the beam is nice and clean at multiple distances, but it got quite warm with the lens in it at 200 mA and I'm just afraid it won't last at 275 mA or higher.

On a side note..... I had post with Lifetime17 about some new modules DTR had that didn't seat the diode properly and yesterday I got three new modules from DTR to compensate for the three I bought recently out of the blue. That was sooo very nice of him. Thank you, Jordan.

I am very interested especially in the 483nm one, but also 485nm should be ok. So if somebody has a contact to buy, is selling his 483nm one or organizing a group buy, please contact me.

Alright it appears the interest is building. I'll set up a preliminary feeler gb thread later tonight.

Try to find out what kind of price break we can get at different quantities. I'd like to not over pay for one.

Why not a 488 and a 485 would be great + the 477. Yeah count me in if the price is write!

The first diode is on its way to me today, but the driver and host tomorrow. Will try to post a color comparison against 480 and 488 this weekend... If I can solder the board right on the first try.

I might keep it in low power mode and buy a new one set for me to avoid any unwanted complications or death. That sounds like a better idea than a novice like me trying to bridge the resistors myself :o

Do you have a wavelength reading at 100mA paul?

Edit - I see 483.4 at 75mA so I'll round to calling it 484

That first reading at 75 mA was a cold measurement, so it might not apply to a diode that is being run @ 100 mA. I don't have a spectral measure at 100 mA. BTW, your diode is out for delivery today.

Yup, tomorrow is the day I get the driver & host though.

I should be able to build it tomorrow if I can get the leads attached to the driver without unintentionally bridging or lifting any components. I've done both quite a lot this year already... praying it will go better with this one.

If this ever comes up again, I have several great solder stations and excellent skills, so I could set a driver up and solder it for you. Not a problem for me at all. My main solder Station is thermostatically controlled and usually set to 270 degrees C. I have a very small tip on it at the moment and can solder very small areas without problems.

If I ever need one done, you'll end up seeing something again.

Edit: I am not cut out for this. Just lifted off a resistor on my micro flex.

Time to order from DTR again. Just asked if he could pre-solder leads on it, because I sure as **** can't do it.

Alright guys, GB thread is up HERE, if you previously voiced interest and still are interested, let me know in that thread.

Ouch! That is high, Atomicrox. If they adhere to the spec sheet, they are a great diode. Problem is when they don't. I'd love to get a 490nm diode. But, it might turn out to be a 485nm diode. Last one was.
