I took mine to 365 mA tonight for about 10 seconds.  Just for a comparison with Dave's data.  477 mW.  That's all  :'(    I peaked at 510 but dropped to 477.
Understand that there will be wide variance in readings because of new diode technology and YMMV ----  your meter may vary !!!
477 still ain't bad  ;D

Mike

Also, I pointed out that mine has a hairline crack in the window. It causes a very minor spill in my beam. Anyone decan one of these yet ?? I'm thinking about it.

If your willing to take the chance of breaking a diode worth over 200 USD go for it!

This is called Research and Reverse Engineering.... (you don't seem to have a clue as to
what certain members do or the sacrifices that they make for the good of the community)..

You can't make a perfect omelet without breaking a few eggs...

Unless you have the Data Sheets for this new 405nm 8X Laser Diode... Do you... :-? :-?

It's not magic...
It's pure physics/photonics!

426 mW at only 260 mA ??? Not only a magic lens but a magic diode.

Beats mine all to hell :D

intro74 has the Sony diode. BWU-300S...

I believe he is the only one so far that has bought one of the Sony 8X drives. Makes you wonder if they are all as 'HOT' as his!

They're not available anywhere anymore for less than $350 though...

You're right I paid around $400.00 but the price seems to be less expensive now ;)

Like anything else... I think the first PHR803T Blu-Ray was taken out of a $350.00
brand new DVD burner... now we can pick up a Sled for $8.00...

But don't forget we still need the brave pioneers like you and Dave... and all the rest..
to break the trail wide open...
