WOW!!!!

so how bright of a green does this compare to?

also, what is the output if you measure it strait from the diode with the lens taken off?
wait a minute... if it was 450mW at 365mA (raw power you said?), and you added the Jayrob lens, how did it add more power?

see, i almost put madness, but even when i didnt, this STILL happened! lol :P

On another note, Daguin, you said the RAW output was only 450mW. You mean to tell me that you're getting MOAR than the raw output!?! :o

Apparently I didn't get it all the way into the calorimeter when I was measuring it without the lens.  The light spreads pretty fast without a lens.

Peace,
dave

A likely explanation, is that his raw output measurement was not as accurate. Because it would be difficult to get the diode so close to the sensor without it's light spreading out and bouncing off the insides of the module.

The lens specs claim 95% transmission for blu-ray:

Oh... you beat me to it Dave!

Ah yes, it appears so. Has anyone tried finding a spec sheet for this yet? I wonder what we're dealing with here longevity-wise :-/

P.S. I know your a power hungry diode torturing wild man, but you should turn the current down to about 275mA's. You would still see over 375mW's with the 405-G-1 lens mod and that set up you have there! Then it would last longer...
Jay

Where's the fun in that? :P

I have a back-up ;)

Peace,
dave

Hey Dave, what was your voltage at around 275mA's? Do you have that? If not, don't bother...
I'm just wondering if a FlexDrive will be ok at 275 or maybe 290mA's. What do you think?
Jay
A back up! You are a wild man!

The closest I measured was 300mA. At 200mA it was 5.5V. At 300mA it was 6.0V. So ~5.85V? IIRC the published limit for the flexdrive is 5.5V, but it can do a bit more than that

Peace,
dave

Thanks Dave, I just read back and found where you posted that information...

Great work here Dave!
Jay

P.S. I guess you like the 405-G-1 glass lens mod then huh? That monster would melt an acrylic!

Look at the evolution!
Just monts ago, we were amazed by PHR > 100mW.
I am still very impressed by 6X > 200mW.
And now daguin reporting 8X > 500mW !

There is a breakthrough every month!

All we gotta do is to thank the scientist for doing this.
And thank the members for buying stuff from the scientist so they can finance this.

:)

No...I'm sure he hates it.. ;D Do you do sales in real life Jay? I always feel like I'm buying a new car every time I read your posts LOL IE; I always feel some pressure to buy something. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just an observation.

Nice job Dave, very cool.  :) Did you actually buy 2 ROMs LOL Or did you swap the diode and exchange the ROM for another one? ::)

:o That is >.50 WATT of 405nm light   :o

Will it live? . . . . .Who cares?  I get to see half a watt of violet light shining into the night time sky  8-)

Peace,

Swimming pool builder... (Project manager)

I built about 60 pools a year for the last 5 years straight. No time for anything.

Guess what? Nobody can get loans for building pools anymore!

So I've got some extra time for this great hobby these days, and yes... I am trying to sell my kits and mods. So your observation is spot on.

But since I don't sell complete builds anymore, my focus is on DIY kits and things like that.

I sure don't want to sound like a high pressure car salesman though. One thing I can tell you, I don't blow smoke, I'm a 'straight shooter', unlike many salesman. (not all salesman - no offense to any salesman)

That's obvious Jay. Keep it up the good work.

Wow you guys are night owls like me. Or you have updates to this thread sent to your Blackberry. ;D
