[quote author=WannaBurn link=1236464366/80#83 date=1236871498]Ive been using the LM3410 which is the same as the driver IgorT has been using... If these diodes require a higher voltage, the 3410 can deliver up to 24v at over 1A from 3.6v
Id be happy to send you one after all testing is complete. I will have the final boards in production from a professional manufacturer, not my DIY's
That would be wonderful. I have a "back up" diode as well
Do you want me to send you a PM to hold as a reminder for when you are ready?
Peace,

If you want...I dont think I wll forget, as im pretty exited about getting these done
Ive had a PHR running at 177mA in a pointer made back in last Nov. which is still going strong. 2 6x's, a couple of 4x's (one of which I traded with DTMF) and have had nothing but great results. IgoreT had coached me through the learning aspect prior to the final design, and am proud to say I have not lost a single diode with these drivers.
They work well off of 2 AAA batteries at 3v for the PHR's and 6x, but the voltage and current you are looking for with the 8x will probably need 3.6v in, but will easily supply the 7v and current required.
Im going to hook up a 7v dummy today and see if I need to make any changes to the design. 7v is not something ive tried, but according to the datasheet, the IC should have no problem working at that level.
The boards im doing are pointer inserts, so they are long and accomidate a switch and spring. I use these exclusively in my pointers and handhelds. The only downside to these boards is that they are boost only, not bosst/buck, so reds are out of the question. I have got them to work with reds by putting additional diodes in line with the output to increase the load voltage, but the whole thing becomes less efficient. I will be working on a better solution for later versions, but for now they will be for 405nm only.
