hmmm... this is interesting, according to my lpm-1, mine is only doing 20mw at 80ma. 20x2 = 40? so its only doing 40mw at 80ma? I wonder if I hurt it somehow extracting it.... :-?

if it's still lasing properly you either have a dud diode or your meter isn't reading it correctly :-/

yep, it looks normal for one of these. oh well, hopefully the next one will be better. :D

I'm 99.9999999999999999->% sure its your meter. There is no super accurate way to calculate based on another wavelength setting. There can be 'dud' diodes, but usually these are underpowered my maybe 10mW max. If that diode is only putting out half power, I'm sure it would have never made it into the drive to begin with.

I bit the bullet and ordered 30 units :o sure beats PS3 sleds!

These may not be as scarce a commodity as we feared (at least for our purposes). I just found another source that looks like it has at least 800 units on hand. Some retail outlet is gonna buy them. As well as, I am sure, that this is not the only source of these refurbished units. Maybe Geeks.com is buying from them, but who knows?

Peace,
dave

Hey all, love the forum. Question for a New Person (I have a solid electronics background) Does anyone have the p[in out or connections for this diode? My tracking for the HD-DVD drive shows it will be here monday. THansk for the discount codes too!

Lens choice makes a huge difference with blu-rays. If you have an AR coated acrylic lens, it will be reading very low. The non-coated AixiZ acrylic is the best for the price. The Meredith glass lens will give you 30% more power than the AixiZ acrylic!

This is a picture of the red dioed pin out. But read my comments at the bottom of the picture. I learned this the hard way...

That thread was about the 6 X diode, but the 803T diode is the same pin connection...

This picture is spread throughout this list. I do not even have recorded who originally drew it. This is the pinout for the 803t.
