PHR-803T for about $20

I just harvested my 803 from the second HD-DVD drive I bought. I used a small needle file to score the heat sink then split it with pliers. Much better second time around. I adjusted my RCKSTR driver "RockStar" for 78 ma. I was running the first at 93 and it mysteriously stopped working. I am fairly certain I had a stressed solder joint that broke connection. I am firing it up right after this and will let you all know how I fair. Then to strap it to a shark and I will be in bliss!

I put my glass lens on the sony 16X burner diode at 150ma and it will light a match. I think I am going to mount both the UV and the red in one host. More to follow! I will get a beam shot before the night is out.

I just got a call from the guy that bought the remaining $20 drives. Guess what he wanted? :) Be looking for a 'commercial' blu-ray laser that shoots many blu beams in a while.

:-/ "Shoots many blu beams" Hmmmmmmmmm . . .Tries to visualize "many blu beams" :-/

Hmmm,

The only problem is that I now need to somehow explain to my wife the "out of budget" items in PayPal... I was planning on talking with her about it this coming Friday... thanks DWells55 for the checklist.
No problem, glad it helped. This is going to be my first build and I'll be photographing/documenting the entire process for future reference. Assuming the final product works, I can post it up as a guide. Dunno if I'll have it done before you do though, I just ordered a 100mA fixed board from rkcstr and am ordering the AixiZ module now.

EDIT: Just paid for the module from Stonetek. Anyone know if that two to three week shipping estimate is accurate? I'm going on vacation on July 5th and was hoping to have this thing built by then.

Anyone have a wiring diagram for the red/ir diode? I really don't feel like going though 30 pages to find out...

Dang - sorry it took so long to reply - I ship next day, most cases...your purchase should be there soon if it is not already there.

Haha, it's alright, my question answered itself when a few hours after I ordered I received notification that my order had shipped. Thanks :)

Rkcstr fixed 100mA driver ($7.25) - http://rkcstr.googlepages.com/home
Aixiz module ($5.99) - http://stonetek.org/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66&products_id=191
2x 3.7V 900mAh lithium batteries ($5.85) - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3435
Lithium charger ($9.17) - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4151
3W 2xAA LED flashlight as housing ($6.67) - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10902

I have not figure it out how it is going to look, it seems that the module is going to be sticking out.
