PHR-803T for about $20

Thanks for the quick answers! And about the part with them dying, I may have just been reading that part of this thread with the cracked window problems, sorry!

As for the lens, I only have AixiZ acrylic and one glass (on my MXDL open can red, not going to take it off that!), So i'll probably be jumping in on that AR coated GB. But while we're talking about modules and lenses, can I buy AixiZ modules straight from them? I've never been sure where I can actually get those...
Aixiz modules are cheapest...from Aixiz. Their ten pack of blanks costs around $25, but their shipping could take a while as opposed to buying them from stonetek.

I just picked up two at $17.09 each with the discount code - s&h was $12

Can't wait for my Kenom BBl v2 to come in

is there a driver pre set at 90mA or whatever this thing requires?

i am a laser newb and i want to minimize the tuning work :)

i dont care about overdriving the uv diode to its limits.. i just want a bright self-made pointer accomplishment

You can get the drivers from the user rkcstr, here is where you order the drivers: http://rkcstr.googlepages.com/home

really cool! but rather confused, i want it to have optimum power output .. either 90 or 100mA whichever is ideal.. i would like the load tested right? i am a newbie and dont have experience in this so what exactly do you recommend that I purchase with my order? Detail what the shopping card should look like so far I gather:
Assembled adjustable output Micro-Driver - $7.75 - low, 405nm range (~27-150mA) am i right with the first choice? thanks

yes, that is the right driver. You will also want the test load. What the test load does is simulate a diode being hooked up to the circuit. That way you can fine tune the current to make it exactly what you want (in this case, 90 mA). Then you take of the test load, slap on the real diode, and there you have it! the current is all set for the real thing.

The (Alternate value fixed output Micro-Driver - $6) dose that mean you can chose the pre-set mA?

Yes there are a lot of presets to choose from his list. I personally got a 87ma and confirmed it with my multimeter. You cannot enter in any value as it may not be possible with the resistors he has.

Would the "98 standard 100" be a good choice for the 803T?

Heyo... I've got one of mine running at ~100mA, so the standard 100 value is fine (which is actually going to be about 98, though I can get it right at 100, if you want).

Also, I mentioned in my 'for sale' post, that I can also do a range that's about 24-100mA instead of the standard "low range", which should be a "safe" range for the 803T according to most accounts given on the forum. This means you shouldn't have to worry about blowing your diode if you adjust while powering it, you just won't be able to push it beyond 100mA if you're ever feeling daring ;)

Feel free to ask any questions in my threads or via PM.

Well I would like as much power as I can get. But I also want a working laser diode. Do they work fine at 100mA? Or more so. Where do they blow at?

Can't say I know where they blow at... I think GooeyGus tested some to destruction, which was around 150mA, I believe, but you may want to have someone else confirm that. I've been running mine at ~90-100mA for probably about an hour's worth of time so far, and I know climbak has been doing a endurance test going on over 2 weeks straight (or some crazy long amount of time) at 100mA.

What are the ideal optics that i can order for this (not too expensive) to maximize output power through collimation? can anyone provide a link or url to the product whether it be Meredith or Aixiz. I want max output :)

Of the choices available right now, the Merideth glass lens is getting the most output.

You found your way here, you can find your way to Merideth Instruments.

Peace,

Can you do pre-installed units? I don't have a soldering gun at the moment. And if you don't have any extra 803T's, I can have one shipped to you from geeks.com

Thanks,
