Hi Drew . Im the one who email you today and the one who was running a phr on an lm317 with 8 volts and decided to hook up a compact 9 volt batt and it shorted immediately . I guess the current was adjusted for 8 volts and it boosted the voltage or something . I am Sad as all get out . I need at least two . I can pre pay you if you prefer . Do you still harvest and install in case ?

Al

phr and lpc will be back in stock on tues. not sure about the driver though... the voltage shouldnt matter unless your batts were almost dead when you set the current..

Hi . Yes i have verified with a dummy load of leds that indeed the Voltage difference on an lm317 output changes with the input . for instance if you feed 7 volts in it and adjust you ma to 50 the output voltage is around 4 volts but as soon as you hook that same setup up 9 volts the output voltage jumps up 2 more volts .. so what happens is you HAVE to READJUST every time you go with a different battery . I will remember to turn the pot all the way down before hooking up My new Blue ray . It fried it instantly and its Shorted not just fried . It was working so well on 8 volts . I milisecond blast and it lit matches at 65 ma .. :0 :) :) . The voltage matters . I will build a regulator in front of the lm317 to eliminate that problem . Its a very good idea you use a 5 volt regulator on you power supply before the lm317 current driver . ALSO anyone know about xlaser 11.50 shipped phr-803t modules ?

Al

...i don't think the voltage does matter....isn't it the current that matters?

anyway, you could just save yourself the trouble and jsut buy a rkcstr Micro-Drive or a dr.lava Flex Drive......
and yes we know of laserx phr module or whatever? thats jake21's website.
But drew is MUCH more reliable and consistent with his service. he is the better choice by far.

@highhacker: that's definitely not correct. You must be doing something wrong. Take a close look.

Use Xlaser at your own risk. ( I highly advise against any dealings with Jake21)

Drew is a much better person to deal with. His reputation is spotless, his customer service is topnotch, and his shipping is fast and well packaged. With him you have nothing to worry about.

ok guys ive gotten quite a few emails about "tracking" usps first class packages( actually just answered 6 emails that said the same thing.........) so im going to state this as clearly as possible...

the tracking number you receive in confirmation emails from stamps.com or paypal arent really "tracking" numbers. they are more for confirmation than anything(for first class dom or intl). IF YOU WANT A WORKING TRACKING NUMBER USE PRIORITY MAIL SHIPPING OR EMS SERVICE FROM USPS OR ANY UPS SERVICE.

also i am not responsible for transit times! intl orders can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks depending on where you are and how slow the postal service is.

please do not keep sending me emails asking "wheres my package? the tracking number doesnt work!" if you dont pay for a reliable tracking number you wont get it.

sorry if this seems a bit rude but this is getting to the point where im getting 5-6 emails a day asking the same exact thing and its gettin a little old.

thanks to all the customers who understand this and dont bombard my inbox with emails.

Drew, I can only assume you are partly directing this hostility toward my email inquiry yesterday evening where I asked if my package had been returned to you, as it has been 15 days since I received the Stamps.com notification and my package hasn't yet shown up. Maybe if you had noted the unreliable USPS tracking info on your Modwerx site under the shipping options earlier, you wouldn't be getting all 5 or 6 "bombarding" emails from various international customers. Considering the curt reply you sent, I can't imagine it taking you more than 60 seconds to "reassure" all 5 or 6 of your international customers that it was their fault they didn't spend more on the carrier.

I've now bought from you twice and even referred your products to my brother, both of those times USPS got the items to Canada in one week, albeit my first purchase took you 6 days to actually ship. With my May 5th purchase, I received shipping confirmation from Stamps.com the very same day, so I was pleasantly surprised, but my package has now (allegedly) been in the mail system for two weeks... I don't think it is unreasonable that I asked if it had been returned to its sender. A little maturity and possibly some customer reassurance can go a long way.

Mines been in the system for a week, I live in the U.S. I assume the latest post was not directed to me, I asked today without the pleasure of reading that info , sorry. I'd just like to build my laser sometime soon. 7 days is a bit long even for first class when I've gotten two other things sent to me and recieved from much farther away. ;)
