PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

If someone wants a 400mj 2 um laser, I bet they would let this go for 100 bucks, no one has been interested in this since they listed it.

C132234 Sunrise Hyperion LTK Laser Eye System w/ Nd: YAG 532nm, Diode 635nm, Ho: | eBay

I would jump on this except that I don't have an adequate place to store it and the freight has to be more than the laser itself. I imagine there is a huge amount of useful items that could be culled from this.

so its two 0.5mW visible CW lasers and one 2500W 160us pulsed laser. I bet the power supply for this thing is massive though and would be pretty hard to properly disassemble. A good buy for someone who knows what they're doing but for me I would probably break it. For that reason I'm out

That's the sort of thing they'd use somewhere like the NIF...

It'd go in an assembly like this:

Edit: The description even says the piece you linked came from an early system at NIF. :p

Someone had some fun designing that thing, holy cow tails!

Alaskan, new project for you. Nuclear fusion reactor...go! :D

Nuclear fission > nuclear fusion... if you're going to invest your time into a reactor, check out the LFTR (liquid fluoride thorium reactor) all you need is about 500 million to kick start it

If that wasn't on the other side of the Country from me I would try to pick it up in person.

Yeah, but there's a limit to how much Uranium an individual can possess.

Don't think there are any limits on deuterium. Tritium maybe, but good luck getting your hands on any significant quantity of that.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I was wondering if that huge ND "glass rod" was in the form of a PCX lens, it appears to be in that shape. Wondering if it is designed to be pumped from the back side with an expanded beam from an IR source, and what kind of source would be needed to bring the energy level up enough for any kind of efficiency is another question.

Edit: Never mind, it appears flat to me now. I don't think a PCX lens shape could be pumped anyway. I have asked the seller to include a side shot so we can see what it is.

I think that it's shaped like that because it's supposed to form a circular aperture for the beam when tilted at the brewster angle. My guess is it was used as a power amplifier in a large laser, so it likely amplified a pulse from a smaller 1064nm laser. If you want to learn more about these kinds of lasers look up "master oscillator power amplifier laser."

The NIF laser array is one of the most powerful in the world, so that slab is nothing to scoff at.

I'm always drawn to lasers which can produce a high power density, the power! I will look into this more, didn't know what NIF was until googling.

Some 488nm OEM MG lab lasers:

New seller though.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/272579801110

He has a blue sky research one too for $1000

Really nice lasers for those with deep pockets.

So I'm guessing the power cord means you can just plug this directly into the wall and it will work? or do you need to use it with the computer software all the time?

I've not used one with an OEM driver before personally but I imagine they're computer (RS232) driven, or driven using the power port like the desktop ones. although the desktop drivers do also have a start and stop button on the front to use them without the rs232 connections. (i have a few handy)

if they're like my YCA (as they share the same driver I think) they use 5V at 8A IIRC. I'd have to look at the manual for them. If you need commands, or want me to check over stuff you buy and give you a performance check I can do that for free, just pay shipping. They're nice SLM lasers for the cost. I want one, but don't have the spare cash due to needing to buy some stuff for my car (tires and the like)
