PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please sub

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Not sure if that's why certain DPSS pointers are pulsed, or if it's just for thermal management. Perhaps both.

It's a bit of both. It results in a lower power consumption, and thus less heat and battery drain, and still results in getting the light output; since the eye can't see such rapid pulsing on its own unless you wave it all over like a madman usually. CNI pulses theirs at something like 700 hz iirc. You can't see it flashing on the wall, but if you move it quickly it'll leave a trail of dots instead of a line on the wall.

Yes, I found that with mine and made a thread on it. The pulsing of those 589,s makes sense now, but at the time I had figure out what was going on. The aurora is the only one in my collection that pulses. :p

Nope. Not even close to possible. 473 at 5mW cost an incredible amount by itself.

It also doesn't show the beam coming from the pointer.

1500mW 473nm in a handheld isn't even possible. It'd be very expensive in a labby. It's probably a shitty 1-2W 445.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I thought maybe they would sell it for cheap not knowing the value. Well Gray will sell me a 30mw 473 for $220. Sooooo, you'd imagine someone could make 5mw for <$50.

Anything can be handheld if you have the will to make it ;)

But yeah nothing in that ebay sale is legit.

You mean $270? That's what's advertised on JL. Unless he offered to sell you just the module:)

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

No. He offered the entire laser to me for $220. I explained to him that I'm broke and looking for a 473. :D

I'll buy his if my FS lasers sell.

Why does this look like jetlasers? Is this of the same quality ya think? 5W970-B 450nm Blue Laser Pointer 3 Switch Modes Burn Matches Light Cigarettes | eBay

It looks similar to J/L's PLE-Pro models, but that site says the diameter of theirs is 36mm, where most PLE's are 40mm in diameter.
The front focus ring area looks different also, and I'd bet it's not near as smooth focusing as a genuine J/L product.
It's not a bad looking host though.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Duh, I know it wouldn't be 1500mw but it could possibly be that wavelength for maybe 5mw?

Okay so I contacted the seller.

Hi
I am wondering is this laser really 473nm sky blue color DPSS or is it 445 or 450nm diode laser?

Thanks

and they reply

"New message from: millionshare (671,384)
Thanks for your writing.

It is 473nm sky blue color DPSS
Have a great day."

So I'm going to bid on it and if I win and get it and it's not 473 then I'll open a dispute.

If it is 473 and I get it for less than $50 then I'll have robbed them blind!

edit: just bid $24 on it. Will probably go to $45 if I have to. Not more than that on this risky buy.
