I'm a bit confused about buying off forums with paypal. I feel like there's an obvious way to do it, I usually never buying with paypal. I use debit cards, is there a way to pay with a debit card?

While accepting a debit card would be safe and reasonable for most businesses it's not really an option for hobbyists since it requires setting up a merchant account.

You can setup a paypal account easily if you have a bank account... which you have since you have a debit card.

Once you do, you ask the seller for their paypal account email, and send them money.

Always send as "Goods" and always put into the description exactly what you are sending the money for.

Additionally you should read this:

Pretty much what he said.

Using a PayPal account is safer than handing over your debit card to random people. By doing it through PayPal, you'll still be paying with your debit card but the seller won't have access to all of your person information.

PayPal also protects you to a certain point from being scammed.

I always feel quite happy after walking away from the computer crying because you robbed my bank account. Again

Its a pity that paypal isn't more accepted. Should be a general form of payment all web based businesses. Last thing you would want is your debit card / credit card # floating around...

ROFL Jake, now the newbies here will think twice about buying from Moh :eg:

about putting what laser you are paying for in a PP--since EEkBay frowns upon completed lasers over 5 mWs and SINCE PP is owned by Feebay many would advise against putting '200 mW green laser' in the PP. Do, however not fall for the trick of being asked to pay as a 'gift' any protection( as little as it may be) is gone when you pay as a gift-- instead offer to cover the PP fees. (~4%)

btw PP is quite helpful if you get scammed on an EEkBay purchase --other purchass---not so much.

last tidbit of advise -

-if at all possible open your box in the presence of a shipping employee-- they make the best witnesses.

Del. confirm-insurance etc is almost always worth the extra expense-- especially if you do not know the other person...

hak hope this helps
