PHR diodes cannot be driven to that power ::)
I strongly disagree, sir. :D
Let me rephrase that:

They cannot be driven to those powers, and survive more than a day ::)
What are you talking about? lol almost every PHR i've had has been no less than 135mW :D even daguin had one at 200mW which has lasted months and isn't dead yet I don't think? 100-120mW is fairly average for a PHR...

You're crazy... ::)
Do you have an LPM?
BTW, Dave doesn't have a 200mW PHR that isn't dead yet. You overestimate those wimpy little diodes... ;)
100-120mW is the maximum for most PHRs.

Re: O-like Nichia100-120mW CW rate 405nm laser dio

well the diodes are pretty inconsistent some can handle >150mW with no problems some cant even squeeze out 60mW before they die

You pretty much summed it up right there...

Pretty much sums up ANY diode ::)

Nope.

6x diodes give about the same power at any given current.
LOC diodes give about the same power after the current hits 400mA.
SLD1239JL-54 and LCC diodes are less consistent, but they are still very consistent.

PHR diodes are by far the most inconsistent diodes i have ever come across.

Regardless, I'd rather have 7 PHR diodes than ONE of these :P

I wouldn't...

Re: O-like Nichia100-120mW CW rate 405nm laser dio

I bought one of these diodes from Susie and managed to collect a little data before finally killing it accidentally.. :-[

Here is a Current/Voltage/Power out (After acrylic lens):

Here is a chart showing what Voltage and Power Out do over temperature of 25 to 40 C:

Re: O-like Nichia100-120mW CW rate 405nm laser dio

It died at about 210mA?
Well, then i would rather keep using 6x diodes.

Re: O-like Nichia100-120mW CW rate 405nm laser dio

Kage;

Thanks for plotting both the charts.

Was the temperature increase in the second chart with a normal sized heat sink ?

How did you accidentally kill it? From the graphs it doesn't look like it was ready to die.

I agree, what did you do to kill it?

@ Susie, I want some.

Well with no 6x's in sight, these diodes may be the best we have.
