NUBM08E the new 9-10 watter

Yeah, that's definitely a good idea. Kinda wish Red would have gotten it before they raised the price. That would have been a lucky move.

Alien laser did try to buy the 799 block of 08e, the price changed the moment he clicked buy, sounds like some shady hacking bate and switch bs too me, but AlienLaser did try to get us a block at 799.00, he said he clicked buy it now and the price instantly changed. He also messaged TH about a single diode but no go. They may be no big deal, just slightly better than the 06, maybe that's why they want a big sucker price, because they know we won't buy anymore after we see how not that much better they were, we are talking 36 vs 32 watt rated blocks, that's 12.5 %

I say HELL NO! When I see proof they are the bad boys I will pay out, but I'm not buying a pig in a poke, not me, NO Sir!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I WOULD NOT BUY A BLOCK AT 1200 UNTIL WE AT LEAST TEST 1 DIODE

I remember when the NDG7475 was a 1000.00 a diode, I still don't own a 520nm direct and may never buy one.
That made me so mad, they can keep them and cram them where the sun don't shine until they are old news and 25 dollars, maybe then I will get one, otherwise they can shove them, I don't want one, the divergence sucks anyway, I like my 532nm emerald beauties that look like real laser beams.

LMAO @ 1000.00 pizz green flashlight bulbs, they lost this customer!

I would be interested in a block of 06 not double priced 08, I will pm you.

I fully agree, the block of tested 06 is the best deal at the moment.

I would play with it making an optical system around the full 400USD block.

After testing any of future more powerful and expensive blocks with same dimentions could be put into such a construction.

Well at $100 or less for the real deal I would definately want one and its likely my friend Bow/Jeff would also. Can't wait to see some honest testing on one so we can graph it out. As I mentioned before, already owning a 6W 470nm I need to see a big leap in output for it to be worth it for me.
While we are waiting I still would HIGHLY recommend building at least the higher output single modes that are out there as they are beautiful. I can't believe I waited so long before getting into them considering.
Does anyone know the actual switch rating on the MX900? I have one ready to go with either a 9mm compression or 12mm module and a C and D mag ready to go also. I believe the mag switches are rated for 10 amps.

Tried to follow who's buying and what the diodes cost apiece. Got lost. But I'm in as I think they're affordable to us old fogies?

How's the divergence?

Who should I contact?

Has anybody ever tried to contact Nichia on these diodes? I can't seem to find their info in Nichia's diodes, but none of the other blocks seem to be represented either. They are the manufacturers of the whole blocks, right? Do they just make the semiconductor?

Techhood is the out of all of the Chinese suppliers the most shady. They go under many names also so it's important to know that. Newgazer, Ray Foss, and a couple more. Last time I tried getting a block of 06 diodes they held onto my money for 2 weeks and kept giving me the story that it would be in in a few days. So they may not even have this in stock. I know I wouldn't feel comfortable taking people's money for a group buy if they are the ones I'm getting it from. If another company I use says they have them for the rite price then yeah definitely. But not with them. The more I think about it I doubt they actually have them in stock.
Also one more thing. On the data sheet I got for this diode it didn't have anything in the box where output was supposed to be. It was blank. So that is also a little bit suspect.

Pman I put 2 fully charged Efest 60/40amp IMR cells into a MX-900 and connect a big 1 ohm load, it held 8 volts at 8 amps, 64 watts and my ceramic wirewound 1 ohm resistor was 210 degrees but that switch held, I even pinched a wire on one MX-900 build and melted the temper out of the spring under the tail cap brass button, took it apart, put in a substitute spring and the switch still works, they are hands down the toughest cheap flashlight switches yet.

Now those slide focus xml-t6 ultrafire lights burn out their switches when I had my nubm44 in one, I made a make shift switch and now I love the MX-900, I ran 3 NDB7875's in one no problem, 3 x 2.4a drivers all drawing in parallel and the 3 inch head got hot in 3 minutes but the switch still works fine, buy these lights while you can, they are a bargain. I reuse the spring boards after I take the flashlight driver parts off, all it needs is a heatsink that I can make easily or use the ones I bought from Moghasm.

I was going to mention that also. On the listing for NDB7475 it shows a NUGM01T and the description it says NUGM01T. I've seen them make the mistake on numerous items.

Yes I have seen him mix stuff up like this for a long time, back when we were waiting for the nubm07E Techhood had them or said he did I even emailed and got a overnight shipping quote, but because we didn't want to trust him we waited.

I have bought from him in the past and I see no reason not to, I wish he would learn how Americans think.

If he had put 1500 dollars on that 08E block then 1475 and then 1462.50 and when you called and asked him for a deal on 2 blocks he could have said 1175 each and we would have happily bought them, that's less than 150 a diode, we have been paying that here for the 07e and 44 so that would be no problem for a SPECULATED 10 watt diode.

It's the starting low and jacking it up that we can't stand, hell we saw 1000.00 5 watt blue diodes and 1000.00 1 watt green diodes when they first came out, and 500.00 for a long time, 147 dollar SPECULATED 10 watter, that would have been no problem if he started high and came down.

Well, keep me in mind if/when you get a good price, or at least, a price that you can live with. :thanks:

TechHood lists 3 blocks in stock, but he may or may not have them, he has turned down 2 request for a single diode, maybe he is trying to see what he can get before he has them or knows the new projector he can tear down but it's not cheap and no workers have been able to swipe any off the assembly line, they snapped a pic, but cant get it past the metal detector in their lunch box?

I would like a good deal because I want to use a whole block, I had a projector paid for in a sale but got refunded for ran out of stock.

It was not these but good diodes, all lensed outside the block and mirrored out a windowed dust protected enclosure.

I may still get one but 385.00 with free shipping I was comfortable with, 550.00 not so much, but next 449.99 and I will go that route, but I do like these Gballs and see a way to use the block.

I cant help but think economy projectors will compete with mercury bulb units at higher efficiency very soon.

Maybe it's better to wait.

Has anybody ever tried to get some of these from an OEM instead?

Are they that proprietary to projector companies that Nichia won't sell them?

That is a good question. When I've looked at Nichia's official website it lists a bunch of different diodes, but they don't show anything about these type of diodes. Just mostly lower power and various wavelengths. Just for hahas Imy going to try to make contact with some kind of sales rep. If I can find a way to communicate with them I doubt very much they sell these direct to public. But it will be interesting what they have to say in regards to their policy on selling diodes.

I'd recommend you not to do that. They're one of the companies that hates the fact there are laser hobbyists out there and one of the points of these new blocks is to be tamper proof. If they see we're wanting to buy them things could get worse with the next generation of lasers.
