NOW 447nm CNI lasers & GB #11

Aww. So no lasers before christmas then. :(

You live in the U.S., and USPS ships on Saturdays (not sure about Xmas though)... why do you say so?

I live just outside L.A. (which is where Glenn is located, I believe) and I am hoping/expecting to receive my package on or before Xmas...should I be?

-Chris

I doubt it. USPS won't be delivering on Christmas, no way. If he sends it to you via Express Mail -tomorrow-, then there's a chance.

Hi Chris,
If Glenn ships it tomorrow by priority mail and you are close to Glenn (within 50 miles or so), it's very possible it could get to you on Friday, if not, it'll get to you on Monday.
The only packages being delivered by USPS on Saturday (Christmas) are express mail packages with the holiday option/surcharge paid on them.

correction: USPS will not be delivering anything on Christmas day. The express mail with holiday surcharge is for Friday the 24th.

Your best option if you want it before Christmas would be to arrange with Glenn to pick it up in person if he allows that.

Thanks, Aryntha and Bootleg2go! Any idea what this holiday surcharge for tomorrow is?

-Chris

Your zip code has to be in the database of eligible zip codes:

http://ribbs.usps.gov/expressmailde...es/ExpressMailSundayHolidayStreetDelivery.pdf

(though, that may not be correct - the USPS site allows me to create a shipment even though mine isn't in the list; give it a try)

and the surcharge is, I believe, $12.50 in addition to the Express Mail postage which could be anywhere from $25-$50 for a 5lb package.

So you're probably talking $40-$65; possibly more.

For example, creating a shipment from Irvine, CA to Evergreen, CO for delivery on Christmas (Dec 25, Sat) to me from Glenn shows:

Expected Delivery
Sat, Dec 25
Post Office Price
$53.30

You can look up Express Mail Commitments here:

http://webapps.usps.com/expressmailcommitments/landing.jsp

You can put in Glenn's postal depot zip code (Irvine CA - 92620) and set the shipping date to 12/23/10 and enter your destination ZIP, and see what comes back.

You can also try to make a shipment from 92620 to your zip, mailing date 12/23/2010 here - http://postcalc.usps.gov/

Select "Or select shape", Package, then choose Express Mail Sunday/Holiday Delivery.

In that case, I guess it'll just be wiser to wait it out. Thanks for the very helpful post!

How do you know he lives in Irvine? I thought he lived more North. Anyways, you all (assuming you live in the US) should receive packages by Wednesday of next week.

Does anyone know what kind of batteries I am going to need for the 1W 445nm CNI PGL-III-C?

Because I've received items from Glenn before :) and Irvine is his postal depot, not his specific address zip. Meaning, that's where the main post office that takes care of everything in his area is. (Kind of like how my UPS depot is in Commerce City, a good 50 miles from me.) - but it's the depot you want to check with, presuming he'll be dropping it off there or at an annex.

For the 1W 445 PGL-III-C (i'm getting one too) you'll need 2xCR123A, or 2x *3.0v* LiFePo RCR123A. Fry's has them. Tenergy.

Make sure they're the 3.0v **NOT** the 3.6v though. 3.6v RCR123As will make the PGL, and you, both, very sad pandas. (3.2v nominal after charge is fine; most 3.0v primaries start at 3.2v anyhow. 3.6v ones start at 4.2 or so. So we're talking 6.0-6.4v versus 7.2-8.4v Big difference.)

Because, as stated by others previously, the post office simply doesn't work that fast. If he'd have gotten them shipped out before 2pm today, there would be a slim chance i'd get mine friday, but considering he didn't get them until today, I imagine they'll go out tomorrow. Which means monday at the earliest for me to get mine.

I finished the tests, there are some good 447nm lasers here guys  and all the pen lasers are good too, but the 50 mW PGL III -C - 589 never put out a bit of light :cryyy: I guess it and the PGL III -C -532 I have will need to get replaced. Alos, my batteries are not too ideal, so I think you will get more mW's than I did, and all were above specs in my tests on the Kenometer and the yellow pens were showing ~6-8 mW w/ my crumby old batts. As you likely know the GLP 589 uses 1X CR2 battery. I'll Ship soon as I can. And will get w/ CNI on the DOA unit right away too... Thanks All! -Glenn

Great to hear! Thanks for all of your hard work! You are greatly appreciated my friend.

Glenn -- Does that mean that my PGL-III-C 532 needs to be *replaced* or it just hasn't gotten here yet?

Yay, thanks Glenn! but darn, I probably won't get mine til after new years if it doesn't come monday =/
