kool, would it be possible to jump the leads before the caps, onto the sockets ? or is it just easier to solder onto the board ?

just solder the to the boards dont go to the sockets.

its very simple.

and for thickness 1/4"-1/2" should be good.

as far as i'm aware the DMX board has some kind of autodetect function that switches from DMX to ILDA when a signal is present (you'll have to ask maybe someone at lasershowparts about this)[/quote]

I dunno if this has already been said, but shorting the interlock on the ILDA connector, then connecting it to the SP20's program board, causes it to auto-switch every time you hook up your DAC
 
ah good to know. i have pretty much no knowledge of the sp20's program board or dmx at all.

ohhh a few things to point out on that layout.

very very tight.

psu next to scanner amps isnt good pratice

no room for fans i get the feeling its gona get very hot. i know from personal experence
 
check out the thread on pl this all has been covered. there are a total of 4 fans in this setup


there will also be an aluminum L plate that the scanner amps will be mounted onto.
 
oh ok probably not read that one.

looks very similar to ym case but it only has a 300mw green in it and it has heat issues.

its nearing completion too!


i have almost everything mounted and all thats left is wiring and the fans :)
 
how fast of a drill would i need to get trough 1/4 inch al.post a video when your done.
 
Normal drill will do... drill press is best, with a little tapping oil works really well.
Slow and steady through alum it tends to heat up and then the bit gets stuck and breaks.

yes last thing i wanted to do was bring it on the school bus to my shop at school.school can have advantages.
 
;D haha.. nah a normal DIY'ers drill will do, you'll get a feel for the speed it needs to be... oh yes small bits don't do well in thick alum, 3mm and up work the thinner the bit the more likely it is to break....
