New Rayfoss Laser... Broken?

Not mentioning laser safety at all in 99% of his laser videos is B-A-D

Won't get any arguments from me. I bet he wears safety goggles behind the camera though.

Frankly I'm paranoid about the dot of a 100mW+ laser let alone 1W+ laser. The video of him showing how to build a Bic with blu ray diode... Pure insanity. I mean can you imagine some idiot making one of these things and trying to use it? Maybe hitting himself in the eye while trying to light the cigarette? Even the freaking dot is dangerous.

Not sure what the exact numbers are to be honest. There was an excellent thread on that, would be nice to create a calculator to see from what view distance, with what reflectivity, what power/nm laser dot is safe to view.

I've been using rayfoss.com@hotmail.com. I assume that's the correct address.

As for being patient... it's been like 2 months. I think I've been patient enough.

It sucks. Dealing with a chinese company is always problematic if there is an issue to be resolved.

If it makes you feel any better, I paid for expedited shipping on a laser, than had to send it back since it was faulty. So my expedited shipping is turning out to be a minimum of $52, for at best a two month deliver on a working product. Probably gonna turn into three months.

At least you were able to send yours back. Mine's still sitting here in a box and I don't know what to do with it.

Send a polite email stating that the laser is not working and that you would like to return it. Say again politely that if you don't receive a reply within 5 business days you will start a dispute.

If dispute is not an option, stay patient, and try to get a response.

No but they may contact the seller and freeze their account. Just do it. Do you want your money back or not? Its worth a try.

While it's probably not worth the hassle, you can also threaten to sue. To file small claims costs $30, after that you're almost guaranteed a default judgement which you can than send to paypal.

Not something I would undertake for less than $500, but if you feel strongly about it... bhwollen had the right question... do you want your money back or not?

On the phone with paypal right now...

As for suing.. yea I don't think so. I don't know anything about that anyway.
