So, first things first -
While I'm thrilled to be debuting this gorgeous wavelength, it wouldn't have been possible had it not been for the fact that both Aryntha and myself were simultaneously pressuring CNI to custom build this exotic DPSS process into a portable for us. I have no doubt that it was our combined tag-team effort that finally tipped the scales.
Both Aryntha and myself ordered ourselves one of these, and to my knowledge they were engineered side-by-side, shipped at the same time, and received by both of us this afternoon (pretty fantastic synchronicity given that Aryntha is in the US and I'm in Canada). Aryntha was kind enough to offer me the first go at debuting this wavelength. Thank you
Alright, down to business! The specs:
- PGL-III-C-556
- DPSS 556nm
- 20mW (and LPMs dead on)
- Runs on 1x 18650
This is a beautiful colour. Very difficult to describe. It isn't yellow, it isn't really green. My best description is that it's the colour of a banana that is half-way between unripe green, and ripe yellow.
At 556nm this is pretty bang on to the peak sensitivity of the human eye. In the photos below, you're seeing the 556nm next to a ~60mW 532nm. In reality, the 60mW 532nm looks slightly brighter than the 20mW 556nm.
