New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode (NDG7475T)

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

Strangely O-like's datasheet parts also has the same wrong graphs as that ebay seller.
Good news, though :)

Edit: they're also at O-like's ebay for $880:
New Nichia 520nm 1000mW 1W Green Laser Diode 9mm | eBay

$870 is a 100 dollar price drop, and it means that they're dropping, but if the guy selling for $650 is legit then that is really good news. I wonder how o-like got 100 diodes. If the info from podo is correct, then I want to see these diodes below $500 quickly

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

That same guy selling for $950 on ebay is now selling for $900 on ali:
NEW NICHIA 520nm Green Laser Diode LD 1w/1000mw 9mm on Aliexpress.com

With 6 sources I think we can rule out the hypothesis that this is just a prototype :)

On a somewhat related note, PL520 is also falling in price quickly - $70 from DTR and $60 from techhood. We're getting closer and closer to having $5 direct green ebay pens!

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

techhood's datasheet now lists max current as 1.8A, it was 1.7 previously. Might be good news :)

Interesting....Looks like one can buy from Taobao...with Paypal....
via:

Buying Purchasing Agent from Taobao Alibaba China Online Stores Paypal Accepted | eBay

At least the buyer Paypal protection is therefore applicable....I think ???? BUT...It costs 20 bucks ????? For what could be considered insurance !!!!!

And...here is the Conversion utility to go from Chinese Yuan to US dollar....

Still......????????????? VERY much unproven......But...Mmmmmm....When other suppliers see this post....it may provide some.....er....ahhhhh.....Motivation ????? Just stir'in the pot a bit !!!!!

The finished 1W 520 unit from them IS a unique design....looks to be brass !!!

Well...LS....yes...I looked at the Ebay source closer....they give a range of $ 19.99 to $ 99.99...but...really...that is just an example....they DO charge 10%....Which seems high !!!! BUT...still....Competition is a Good Thing !!!...And...THAT is what I am trying to promote !!!@

1W 520nm. That will certainly bring one back to lasers.
Watching prices.

I will never have 1W Green laser like this. :D

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

Do you guys figure we can use the same drivers as the 9mm 450nm diodes? Voltage and current seems close enough to me.

I'm looking forward to trying! The drivers we're using now on our 445 diodes ought to work fine with a little extra heat sinking but until the price on these drops considerably I think I might just opt for a hot, inefficient but very safe linear driver with a nice slow soft start. Hmmm, I think I just built a labbie 8-D

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

I'd really like to have one of these since 520 is a nice color. I'll pass until there is a good way to male the beam square or round instead of rectangle in a handheld with these diodes. The high power would be nice but I prefer beam quality or brightness.

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

Something kinda related, Nichia has 1000mW multimode 476nm 9mm diodes on their site. link. Kinda interesting that they have those on their site- which we haven't seen anyone selling- yet the new 445's and 520's aren' on the site, yet several people are selling them.

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

Yeah, makes no sense at all.. hope they start to sell those 476nm diodes eventually :)
