New machined host.

looks like this

alright.

i won't get to have him make up only one with the differences to looks at simply cause it costs too much, i'll just have to have him make the changes and shoot out 15 or 20 of them and hope they're good.....

1. increase fin diameter to match rest of body.
2. recessed switch
3. replace spirals with horizontal lines running length of body, or straight rings....

i'm thinking the fins are too wide.....anyone agree?? i'm thinking thinner fins....but using the same area...which would allow him to make like 5 fins in that same area....

Yes, I think with the fins large and skinny tube like in the diagram, looks better.

I like the spirals just make them start & stop at about the hand grip area...

The fins need to be larger then the handle area not by to much though...

Also as other stated the clicky needs some work there...

The spirals could also be smaller to except those irriduim tag things jayrob had for a while...

Thats my H.O. and good work BTW at least you are efforting and you'll get my +rep for that and possible purchase in the future...:)

Is anyone gonna get mad that the picture looks like a kryton?

Oh yea I think the tail cap was nice, the spirals were good but the head... not so good.

I think it should be the same diameter with all spiral and getting the spiral deeper and closer together towards the end.

Maybe have the tail knurled too.

EDIT: its not irriduim tags its tritium vials.

I like the host as it is, but I like the suggestions people have made about having the smaller fins which are the same diameter as the rest of the body. I do like the spirals on the host and I think before you put in a big order you should spend a little time maybe figguring some ways in which you could in corperate the spirals into the host?

An idea I had would be maybe to have the spirals running ALL the way down the host, but where the area where the fins were originally, have the spirals indented to the same depth that the fins were. So in a effect you would have spiral shaped fins, I think this would look very unique and fantastic :)

Just a few ideas though, but it is looking good so far.

My vote stands to a recessed clickie, same-diameter fins, BUT personally, I really don't like the spirals - what about doung a series of circular grooves and O-rings, a-la Harley Davidson footpegs?

Picture the host with those in the grip, the heatsink fins, and a recessed clickie - a very timeless, masculine look and you could do purple O-rings for BR, red for LOC, green for green, etc at under $1 per host if someone wanted a custom set, etc...

BTW, the O-rings don't slip if you were wondering - if they can hold up through rain, etc with a 300lb bikers foot coming on and off the shifter, brake, etc they will definitely stand up to a laserists grip, IMHO

What it meant is that it look like a piece of iron from some machine more than a laser.

No offense. I would make what others said, remove those spirals and try to improve the color somehow.

I would make the fins thinner and loose the grooves. if you are gonna adodize them it would look cool with a matte finish too. like my paintballgun.

BCM, the O-ring idea is awesome,
maybe the tail switch part can be slightly larger in diameter (like the end of a hockey stick, or that picture of the bike foot peg), but not as pronounced, just slightly

Good job, I don't really care for the spirals on the body but it still looks nice. I don't think you need to change the heatsink at the head. If you did I would give it more fins for better efficiency. I agree to recess the power button on the end cap.

I went in with a picture and explained all the changed to him, the fins having the same diameter of the body, the grooves running the length of the body instead of spirals, and a reccessed switch, hes going to make 10 of them for me...

once i get these back, hpefully they are godo enough people will buy them (so i can get more made)
and once i get them i will take some pictures and we can do some more modifications to the design
