Hello i got my self a new lathe a nice 9x20 lathe from HF.
I have been making things for my new hosts that will have fans and such.
But i am done making them. now i have over 5ft of 1in round aluminum and 1-5/8 aluminum stock lying around.
And i thought hey someone out there must need something made.
so if you can give me dimensions i will make it and send it to you.
So if you got any ideas of what you want made i also have 1.5x2x bar stock and 1.5x square bar stock. if you want a lab style.
So what ever you want made just let me know.
Or if you need help drawing and finding what you need maybe i can help.
I try to bring as many deals as i can to here so i would like to bring some more.
Also i would love to talk over the phone with someone who has lots of experience with lathes.
got more parts coming for it everyday.
So send me your crazy ideas so i can make them!
Even if its not laser related i would love to make it

I have some cheap flashlights and more on the way, most of them in need of heatsinks for either modules of just LED's. :)

I will come up with some measurements tonight.

Wish I had a lathe-lucky you--many would like to buy a new style of host and send one to you to keep if you make a heatsink for them I have a few--I will send photo to you.. be careful-- dont get hurt by your new tool!!--Len

Toke beat me to the idea--he can type fast!! I am up late and Toke is up early ha ha

i already almost broke my thumb on it but its all good the color went back to pink..
But yeah send me the dimensions and i will make it.
I am excited i would almost love to do this as a living. i want to get a full machine shop.
I always loved to work with my hands but my whole life i was always given books instead of a saw but hey i got to make up for lost time.

I drive a Crysler 300C, I have always though fake bullets in each grill opening would like pretty mean and gangster!

I am afraid this is the best I can come up with right now. DX is pretty slow.

It is for the $1.39 flashlight in this tread.
There are others with identical inner measurements and construction.
The heatsink will have to be glued in from the front, and the battery options are not good.

Still, it would likely be good for a CR2 and a low power green module with battery spring on the driver board.

Can you make me two heat sinks, and check if you have a 20mm drill for the sleeve?

20mm is slightly too big but will fit with thermal cement, and turning a 19,8mm hole is too much work for this host.

I need a. custom heatsink for my radioshack aluminum hobby box. I don't really have dimensions but I can give u them later
I have no idea what dimensions the heatsink needs to be I just know I need one :). The only thing I can say is it must fit in the project box and have a 5.6mm hole for a 445 diode.

If you can make me one I'd be appreciative and I can even use a square heatsink :]

@kiyoukan

i know how you feel, got myself a mini lathe to:)
just got to carried away ordering aluminium at my work, now i have about 3meter of 35mm round bar laying here:banghead: o well it was cheap lol.
out of boredom i just made some keychain out of some smaller stock i still had, might be a nice idea for yourself to:D

Two years of woodshop in HS would have been better spent as one year each of woodshop and metal shop,
many years messing with go-karts and Mo-peds made from lawnmower motors would have been better spent assembling Heathkits too.

I'll take one keychain, lets see a picture

its nothing special just some odd shapes from experimenting stuff, drilled a hole trough and taaaadaaa keychain lol

ill take a pic sometime soon after buffing them up again...bad idea aluminium+keys:crackup:

@Kiyou
you could also order some cheap lights from dx, make them heatsink, and sell as decent prized kits.

I think Jeff thought you made a Key Chain Laser host---there have been some nice ones and even a teeny-tiny host that is an dangely ear-ring--IIRC

I'll definitely be in touch.

Could really do with a couple of custom heat-sinks/modules making up.

I've got 2+ years experience as a turner, miller, and grinder (all manual, not CNC) at a Rolls Royce Royce subcontractor, not much to offer really, but would be happy to share anything useful that may come up in due course.

Thanks :)

This drawing is not to scale! :) All measurements are in mm, hope that's ok... The 12mm dashed lines through the center is bore for Aixiz, dash-dot line is just a center line, dot line vertically is where the aperture of my host is. Doable?
