New kid on the block? The 12x BDR-S06J

That was me. However, I later discovered that my Flexdrive was actually over 600mA at the time it LED'd. I must have bumped the pot or something. I ordered one from Dr.Lava pre-set to 575mA and got another diode and I am currently running it in my Star Trek Phaser host and it is fine so far with over an hour on it. Not as bright as the other was before it died, but still awesome. Well see how long it lasts, but so far so good.

Well I would rather order a real 12x, since it is the same price from o-like.

I just did a build with this sled. I'm wondering if there is any practical way to use the remaining RED diode?

Non-standard size makes it frustrating, but does anyone know if it's even a diode worth trying to use? (would it be as powerful as something like an LPC-815's red diode?)

I had a bit of a play with the one I got, and from playing with it don’t put 250ma into it as it led’ed mine in a instant no big lose though. So from that I would say its not worth it

ok so some time back in late october, morgan had a GB for 12x sleds. there was one going for like 60 dollars and another he said was cheaper at 55 instead. i bought the cheaper one. i don't remember what it was exactly, but based on the pictures of this sled and the location of the diodes, i'm almost certain it's this one. (unless there is another sled with the little notch near the blu ray). i'm currently running it at 657ma (i made a jumper of 3 rather than 2 resistors from a 320ma jayrob hot and i don't like to play with microfelx pots).

i don't have a lpm, but this thing burns like crazy. the dot doesn't seem very bright, although that could be due to me playing with my 445nm and neglecting to build my 405nm for months XD i can focus it at 5 feet and smoke brown card board no problem, i don't have to hold it super steady and it starts smoking rather quickly. it's easily out doing my 8x at 320ma (that burnt out so i replaced it with this diode).

i don't got specs on degradation or anything like that, but so far i've runned it up to about 2 min non stop and it doesnt get that hot. it gets a bit warm, but not hot like the 445's. it's in a jayrob 18650 aluminum sink only too. we'll see how long this thing lasts and i'll let you all know as it progresses. of course i can only give a rough estimate as too how long i think i ran it XD either i got an extra good one, or this ain't the same diode, or these are way stronger and people just don't want to break theirs XD

just thought i'd share my limited info and experience... even though it's like a month after the last post :P

Be careful, I lost one of these running it above 600mA. I am not sure exactly what the power setting was, but I was running a Flexdrive pre-set at 650mA and just turned the pot down a tad. It too was burning awesome until it went LED and then totally dark a few seconds later. I got another with a pre-set Flexdrive at 575mA and has been fine since. It burns about the same also. I Highly recommend the 405 half threaded lens from O-like. Check out DTR's testing data. About 100mW more than 445 glass lens.

i got jayrob's 405 lens. and yeah i'm aware it may not last long. if it dies it's ok. it'd be a good experience to see how this one does :P

I believe I was told the standard is with out a lens, reason being is there is different lenses out there which one are you going to use ?

I use no lens and put the front of the Aixiz module as close to the LPM as I can get it, only about 1-2mm away.

also this way when some one dose put a lens in front of it they will get a higher reading or not and that depends on which lens they use.

When you see the power out put from a Mitsubishi red 635nm diode printed out and they tell you the power out is so much, which lens
were they using to measure that, the G-1 or the Aixiz 405 3 element ???

So some one tell me I'm wrong

I can do that but it'll only be inside an Aixiz so not all the output will be caught on the the sensor. I thought standard practice was with the lens for this reason? :)

Wow. Only took you a little over a year to reply to him.

Just a pair of impressions ..... no PBS in all the sled ? ..... also, no IR diode ? (this mean, no CD, only DVD and BD ?)

i almost asked that thank you! i tore apart a dvd burner 24X and to my finding only a 632nm diode no IR?
