New High Power Blu-ray Sled! - SF-AW210 Graph!

Maybe the way to test the output would be with a LPM instead of
"this one looks brighter".... :-?

Just a thought.... ::)

I ended up killing the blue-ray :'( :'( :'( ( broke the glass trying to extract it )
The red is still working great though even though I was much tougher on it :-?.

The macro shot was just with a 7.2 megapixel Sony Cyber-shot, the original picture is huge I just cut out the part I wanted.

I did the same, don't feel bad about it. You can still run it when broke, but the beam and spot is affected, and the glass normally destroys the die. I have a 10mp cyber-shot somewhere, so I could get a macro shot of my diode, did you do this through a magnifying lens?

THIS JUST IN

My first SF-AW210 sled is doing 235mW at only 197mA through an acrylic lens. More info as it becomes available. 8-)

Dude! You got one of the 'freak' ones like the one that I had! :o

Except yours is even more 'HOT' than mine was! :D

If I had another one like that, I know that I would be happy with it where you have it! That way it will last longer...

And with the 405-G-1 glass lens mod, you would have at least 296mW's! 8-)

I'm now wondering if these are 'freak' diodes, or if dave and a couple other people just got some bunk diodes... This sled is obviously from a blu-ray burner and if it is 'new' technology, I would guess it would be at least a 6x but maybe from a different manufacturer.

i'm really wanting that glass lens... Just gotta wait until payday when I have an extra $60 :P

I sent my sled and dead diode to Dave to compare...

Then, he sent them to rkcstr I believe. Hoping to find some 'tell tale' difference in the sled or diode markings.

My guess is that some of the diodes were damaged. I thought mine would be broken when i saw the sled.... totally smashed. But it's performing like a champ... nice and bright! And the spot looks very 'circular' much like the 6x spot. I have it in a lab-style heatsink, i'm contemplating just letting it run for a while.

Keep us updated man!

Your's is the only other one that I have heard of so far that was really HOT like mine was...

Well the glass killed the die before I could try to use it all I got was a short open can red out of this. All I used was the macro setting on the cyber-shot and a bright light. You might want to use a magnifying glass to get any closer that was the limit of the camera.

I ran this diode for 20 minutes last night, two minutes on and about a minute off, and it's still doing just fine. Lots of power!! :D

Makes me feel really bad about mine that I killed at 280mA's...

I should have had it at 200 or so.

i just sent my kryton to dave that i sold with this diode in it and its did 210mw 8-)
