1. - There is no way that pic trevor found is of a 1W red... just no way.
2. - Krogith is right... that is really terrible splash.
3. - Aryntha hit the nail on the head a page ago - if it were true we would have seen a picture and video by now... I mean it would mean probably 20, most likely around 50 orders instantly.

Is there a way to start a kill thread poll in a current thread? We all know this isn't going anywhere... much as we want it to.

An overdriven LCC is my guess...

I'm 100% ive seen this laser for 190. US or so.. Cant find the link, but I was
looking at this host before making my own. On top of that I always pay
attention to the outputs of 'new' reds.. specifically ones that break the
LOC barrier.

I also see this member is active and yet sits in wait hoping somebody
will pay the $$ :tsk:

Going by his actions, I would also say that there was no mistake in the OP
and that the deception was completely intentional.. Owning a LPM usually
means that one knows exactly what their lasers are outputting. All the dancing
around seals the deal for me :banned:

Can't be an over driven LCC. No way that would hit 500mW, let alone 1000.

Or maybe that was your point, lol :)

OP, how about it? Why haven't you addressed this inquiry? What kind of diode is this laser relying on?

In all fairness I have a LCC with an aspheric that hits 460mW
in a pen. If I really pushed it, I could do 500mW easily, but
know that it wouldnt last very long.

What I meant was that the laser in question has the same LD
used in the dilda.. not some magical 1W'er..

Hmmmmm - I don't think we can summarily dismiss the laser quite that easily. There ARE 500mw to 1000mW C-Mount red diodes. They're not even terribly obscure or difficult to obtain. Plus, the host used here is clearly a host of the correct size and type to accommodate a C-Mount (of course, that doesn't rule out the potential to use a normal diode antsy)

Where my skepticism sets in is the price. $300 for 1W of red seems cheap, since by my memory, the red 1W C-Mounts are a tad bit more than that alone.

Think I covered that in previous posts ;) There are many factors
which lead me to think that its a LCC... Not just a shot in the dark..

Looks like BS to me.. There is no way thats 1W for 299. Ill eat my
hat if it is :tinfoil:

The pic showing it melting a garbage bag is the same pic for the
100-200mW reds as it is for the "500mW - 1W" reds.

Need to see some LPM graphs :poke:

Out of curiosity, what is the power consumption of the the "1W" red laser?
I may have missed it, but I dont see any specs for these...

What I see in this video I have seen a million times over with
2-300mW reds...

Ive found these hosts on focalprice or the like, and in red but never
1W. The price tells me a lot as diodes that put out 1W cost this much
on their own. Lets not forget that to obtain such a pretty beam additional
optics are required and im not seeing this for 299.

Also to get a decent beam with the additional optics, usually means
that having 'adjustable focus' is not an option.. the complexity would
also reflect in the price.

Me wanty hosty.

It looks hardcore, Watt or not. Could stick a 445 in there, or even something less devastating. The junk companies should just sell their hosts...

Oh wait, i said all this already...

Elitelasers is Brazilian... :p

-Trevor

yes thats true but one of his supliers is (or at least use to be) BOBlaser

However he has a meter so he can check the output himself. ;)
