We are all here to learn and share and in doing so we accept criticism/correction, in my view as long as it's honest then it's fair regardless of how soft handed it may or may not be...............that said nobody knows everything and while one person may be very knowledgeable about every aspect of widget design and assembly they may have their head on completely backwards concerning the finances of running a successful widget making business and know even less about the proper raising of puppies, but boy can they tell you about widgets and carry on like a fool about raising puppies............in short you have to take the good with the bad sometimes and we can all come together on common ground although we disagree elsewhere, common ground is good.
 





I'll tell you this much. My gatling laser is well over 1w. The threads are excellent. It is machined and assembled well. It comes threaded for a sanwu 3x BE. Mines has been working perfectly for 2 years. I don't know if every seller is using the same components, but for just under 40 bucks I consider it a very good bargain. Like you said, what's $40? Movie and popcorn for 2. If Rich, or another longtime member would lpm mine I'd be curious to see what it's actually doing. I'll cover shipping both ways 48 continental. You provide the 16350x2.

Look at post #197 from Wizard. That TorchExpro place doesn't seem bad for $40 but as long as the Gattling type laser comes with a glass lens they should be all the same.
 
Crackula, in case your still wondering about the Sanwu LPM??
I measured my Optotronics 532 pointer. Optotronics gives a little paper with testing results.
Pictures are blurry as I tried my best. Paper from Opto is labeled at 86mW peak..

Hi, Thats awesome GSS so the Sanwu LPM isn't bad at all for the price as an entry level LPM.
Crackula should be happy with the results IMO.
Good job GSS I would be pleased also with the readings.
A Ophire power head is way more pricy that the Sanwu but like I said not bad for a starter LPM.
Its not like were building high end space lasers

P.S. if you buy one don't do something stupid with it, like try to burn the plastic housing of a 5G antenna. 👎

On your eBay purchasers you can go back 3 years in the drop down box . It will start at 6 months then the years you probably still have the info that Lex Luthor wants. I do it quite a bit to chase down past purchases.

The only option I get is "buy similar". The actual listing no longer exists and I have no way of looking up the seller. Only thing I can recommend to him is filter to find a US seller. I wonder what happened with ponz and the 30000mw laser. I'd be curious to find out if it came with a glass lens.
 
Why is the wavelength an option? If it uses a TEC or other thermopile it shouldn't matter. The WL matters when using optical sensors and those are only on much lower power LPMs.
Hmmm... My Coherent FieldMax II-TO has a Thermopile Head and
also has a Wavelength correction feature.

You of all people should be aware that Thermopile Sensor Broadband
coatings are not 100% linear across the sensor's acceptable wavelengths.

The Sanwu I'm not sure about since I don't have one yet to test.

Yes, I know that no coating can ever be linear across all wavelengths, but this is the first time I have heard of a correction for it. Learn something everyday. I had Pradipta set the calibration of my Hyperion sensors using 532nm.
 
OK got to measure Crackula's Gattling laser..
Measurement taken from about 8 or 9 inches away from the sensor head. It could of been tested a little closer but the results as they are I think will make him happy..
Mind you I have a shakey hand and I will tell you why in a minute I didn't use a clamp.
It hovered around 1.38W and peaked at 1.435W!
Now it was still a bit cold as I just picked it up from a cold Post Office warehouse and it hit 1.5W and change at first.
The beam was focused on the wider side and just about smaller than the sensors maby 1/2 inch round pad. I can see it doing 1.5W steady with a tighter focus and a bit closer like I said to the sensor, but I think its pretty decent.
Hard to tell if it's multi lens or just one thick one and it's in a brass holder which usually is a 2G but i'm not so sure, plus the lens barrel has those 2 dimples.
The host is also alot bigger than I thought. The main body is 1.6 inches wide and the inner brass sink is set in a 1 inch hole. Way more heatsinking material than I thought as there is alot of AL in this build for $40... 9 ounces, so over 1/2 a pound worth.
I couldn't find my big clamp to hold the host when measuring because of its size.
This Sanwu LPM has the option of setting the WL.
Wanted to ad that the spot at close range or 15 feet away can be focused to a nice round spot. Seeing that i'm not sure what lens is in it, i'm thinking it could be a PLTB450B1 diode?? It reminds me of my PLTB450B1 that even with a G2 lens it has a nice spot.

With a glass lens it peaked at 1.7 W and tapered down to about 1.45 W. The chinese seller advertised it as 5W, and for the $40 I paid, I fully expected it to be far less. I use it as an insect zapper.

They seem to all be around that 1.3 to 1.5W threshold.
Is it holding up well?
