I'm a newbie, so if my question is dumb, please forgive me. I thought you should never run diodes directly from a power source without a "driver" of some sort. Won't voltage spikes from the batteries possibly damage the diode?

If I missed the driver in the build, disregard this:thanks:

This is a PHR-805 diode running at 96ma- should produce ~65mw?
This is a custom driver made by Nocturnal.

I'm assuming this is the driver but I can't see it in the pics either hmmm

The build is better than anything I've done!

Just now gathering parts, and necessary tools to start building while I'm 1350 miles away from my own house and garage full of tools back in Florida. Wife and I are up in Illinois helping family for an extended period of time. It's sorta awkward turning another family members home into my personal workshop. LOL

I was going to do some anodising in the basement with some old buckets and a battery charger along with some rit dye, but with the battery acid needed, decided that wasn't a good idea either:undecided:

I've done this.... with batteries that are running low. You'll probably kill your diode, but you'd probably only be doing this on one you don't care about. It's amazing how tough they can be given how fragile they are! :yh:

Yeah gay is a bad word

Some people are just softies

I think it looks like a remote control and is cool as hell, don't let anyone pick it up and try to turn on the tv with it! Especially if you had a 1W 445 in there!
