My First Laser Attempt, Double Check Me

Alright here's my laser, it's half done. I'm still waiting for my rechargeable CR123a's and my tail switch.

I originally cut out the reflector to fit a different laser, but I wonder if it would work out okay with the reflector fully intact.

I was having lots of fun burner and or carving things. I tried carving my name in my TI-89 cover with the laser. It looks like I need some work on the "e".

Okay I feel like an idiot. I thought the CR123a's where the same diameter as a AA. I should have looked at the measurements first, lol. I was thinking about getting it bored out, or maybe try using my dremel. DOH!

A 14500 is the size of a AA, if you are looking for a 3.6v li-ion.

The problem is that I'm using a micro driver, and I need at least 7 volts. So I'm going to have to pick a different host for the PHR and use the mini mag for a weaker red diode.

Ok so the Aixiz module, whenever i try to use it to focus, the metal cap falls off when i am unscrewing it....why is that, and is there a way to fix it

you can screw the black lens part into the silver cap until it is tight, then screw it back onto the aixz module. I don't use the silver cap to focus, I just turn the black piece because the cap won't go down far enough. However I was thinking about putting some Teflon tape on the threads so the cap would grip the black piece farther out.

i put super glue on the first thread and screw it in only one or two turns. it works great for me.

My laser is done finally lol, only thing i wish was better was the lense, it seems i can't get a pinpoint at longer distances using the acryllic lense of the aixiz module, is that normal?

blu-rays look like they have a haze around them. put some uv protective glasses on and you will be able to focus it.

Long distances the whole thing looks like haze, like anything above 10 feet, would uV glasses fix that too or is that due to the acryllic lens

The acrylic lens housing is really short once you screw the focus ring on. Try only putting the focus ring on the first 1-2 threads and glue it there. You should be able to pin point focus after that.

the uv glasses will take the haze away at any distance. but remember the further out you focus it, the harder it will be to see the dot at all. uv glasses take out almost all the blu-rays light.

Cust is right, I need to glue the focus ring at the tip, because the focus ring was so large the lens couldn't focus at longer distances, any method or technique you suggest in doing so, what type of glue to use? etc.

or could an alternative be to just leave the focus ring off, since i can sort of move it without the focus ring, it just makes it look cosmetically nicer and makes it "somewhat' easier to focus, not sure if it offers lens protection

No kidding, I scroll around a lot, getting Posts from the same people all the time gets a bit confusing and I use my own posts as little markers, sometimes I don't read a few by accident, I'm human, SORRY, At no point did i say you were incorrect, I apologize AGAIN

your post came after I already used bryces post to fix my issues so i disreguarded yours, and now i found a new problem and Cust addressed it, I do read posts, I just happened to forget you actually wrote that because it wasn't relevant at the time. Your welcome

Edit:
I used apoxy and the focusing isn't a problem anymore
