Played with my camera for a few minutes after working tonight. Thought I'd share, since 640nm doesn't get much love. :)

Coherent donated this for my research at school (that has taken me away from the forum mostly). Brand new 100mW rated 640nm CUBE. Rather useful little guy. :D

Nice price, considering what they go for! That would be a nice bright Tem00 red. :D

I REALLY like 640nm now that I've seen it! :D

How close is the color in person compared to this picture?

That's a great photo!
You could send that off to Coherent and sell it to them for advertising. :kewlpics:

Another from last night:

Jollyrajer73: I'd say this color representation is pretty accurate. Quite a nice color.

Oddly, this is the first red laser I've owned that puts out more than 5mW. I think I've failed as a laser enthusiast... ;)

If you indeed took that picture yourself, you'd know 660 isn't pinkish, but a deeper red than 640.

Yea, i think you've got that picture around the wrong way. I'd say 635 on the left, 640 in the middle and 650 on the end. That huge beam on the left gives away the 635nm lasers horrible beam size :p

I think it's more because cameras sometimes pick up 660 as pinkish. The larger beam size is probably because it's focusable, and he didn't focus it properly. Just a guess. :p

The 640 in that pic is a dead giveaway - nice thin beam.

Also the X through the garbage can on the side of the laser? it means "Give to a poor student who wants a laser when you upgrade the lab to the next greatest thing!" ;)

It's actually basically brand new, otherwise it'd be no good for what I'm doing with it. So... even better! :D
