My 1x18650 2w build

Ouch! I feel your pain. I killed three 405's in a row with a Benboost one afternoon!

Got a new M140 diode, and modified one BenBoost to run at 1.1A. It outputs 1.19W.

I'll be doing more 2W builds soon though, just as soon as I sell this one...

It seems God does not want me to have a laser...

I killed my M140... how I do not know. It was working fine, then just stopped working. I may have screwed up the press, but I don't see how.

Ugh... rage quit

Sorry about the loss. Maybe it is a good time to investigate what went wrong. You can't really re-use the parts if you don't know what killed the diode.

I have no idea what killed it this time.
Might have been the pressing, or possibly the BenBoost. I just don't know.

You should stack caps on the BenBoost so you get close to 22uf.

I'd be surprised if the BenBoost killed an H series diode when run at 1.1Amps..

So sorry about your bad experiences :(

This one was actually an M.

I haven't heard of BenBoosts killing many diodes other than the ultra-sensitive bluray diodes.

:(

Are you absolutely sure the diode negative couldn't touch the case? If it does that bypasses the sense resistor and the driver will put out the max amount of current it can. With a fully charged battery it can put out enough current to kill an m140! I know from experience.
