My 1x18650 2w build

Largest diameter being 19-something milimeter, I doubt I can make a set screw for that.

I'll ask if some improvisation is possible, but I doubt it. Have a back up plan just in case.

I won't be needing a set screw. I'll probably go direct press too.

I would like to advise you against the design where Aixiz needs to be pressfited into heatsink, because the laser will be near-impossible to take apart without destroying it afterwards if needed.

And considering the amount of power you're pushing for, you may need to take it apart sooner than you plan to.

Diode direct press.
 
Didn't you already press your diode into that Aixiz module up there on the pictures?

Also why would you leave 12mm hole in the 3D model of the heatsink if it's supposed to be direct pressfit version?

I'm lost a little, sorry.

That's revision one of the drawing... remove the center hole and replace with diode pocket. I'm planning this as I go :p
It came with the module.

Ouch, you're going to have a TOUGH time removing the diode from Aixiz without damaging it.

May I suggest buying the diode alone, and saving this already-pressed one for another build? It may cost you extra, but you'll have two diodes.

Fail at extraction, and it's extra cost but with one diode in the end of equation.

Don't worry, I have an extraction and insertion tool. They've been used without failure on several diodes already! :)

I'm gonna see if Flamingpyro will do it in copper for me. If not, I'll be coming to you.
The heatsink will be be thermal'd to the host and pill to provide more sinking. The whole thing will be one big heatsink.

I'm pretty competent when it comes to drafting, so I'll see what I can do. What's the thread size on the lens? (M9x.5, answered my own question :P)

Thread type is M9 x 0.5 mm for standard Aixiz lens nuts.

You should hit up cliff at cajun lasers. I got this host from him and it came with a heat sink.

Sorry, just checked his site again and noticed that model is sold out. Maybe he has an extra heat sink though.

You will probably want to send the host to the person making the heatsink. Ideally from a heat transfer standpoint, you want to have to hammer the heatsink into the host. From a more useable standpoint, you want one that will fit like a glove but still be removable. I had one custom made by FP quite a while ago, it won't even fall out if you try to shake it out. It won't even budge unless you are pulling exactly straight out and have removed the tailcap first. It's pretty cool. So yeah, I definitely recommend sending the host to the person so that they can get the best fit.
 
Alrighty then, got someone to make it in copper for me! Gonna be a snug fit in the pill to provide extra sinking. Sorry Eudaimonium, copper copper copper! (next aluminum heatsink I need I'll come to you I promise!)

Now I just gotta wait on the heat sink and drivers, then let the fun begin! (also copper modules from the group buy!)

Hey it's no problem, don't worry about it.

As far as I've seen, there is no "competition" between machinists here on the forum.
