Merry Christmas 2015






Christmas in Alaska would be beautiful I'd imagine.
You know, I've only ever seen snow once.

Gabe, I almost started crying, I was 35 years old and never seen snow!
I was beyond ecstatic, I couldn't believe my eyes.

I had taken my wife and kids to a camp for a holiday in July.
It meant a trip up the mountain if we wanted to see snow but we were pressed for time.
My wife knew how much it meant to me and the kids to see snow so she insisted we go up, (she'd already seen snow before).
Luckily there was fresh snow that day and we had the best time up there.

We got out of the 4WD and just had a ball, snow fights and just taking it all in.

It was a short stay but something I'll never forget.

Wow, I never give snow a second thought, just as soon have it be summer with it all melted again if I could, but I do remember the first time I saw it as a kid and yes, it was cool to see the first time and lots of fun.
 
I can't begin to imagine living somewhere with no snow, if you do then I have to ask where does your water come from? Spring water? Well water? Or piped in from very far away? Around here almost all of the water comes from melting snow and ice in the mountains. Unfortunately the water here where I am is well water, so I never drink it or cook with it, in most of the U.S. The well water is unsafe and is polluted with chemicals and pharmaceuticals, the spring water in remote areas especially in the mountains is safe. The bottled water I use comes from spring water in remote areas, I will not buy just any bottled water.

Merry belated Christmas to everyone. I know I'm 1/2 a day late but I was with family so that's a good excuse.
Live in upstate NY and it's been weirdly warm. My wife and I went out driving my father's Lexus SC430 with the top down both Christmas eve and Christmas and loved it. Even saw a couple motorcycles. Really weird. Should be cold with snow. Would rather not have any even though I have a snow blower for the first time lol. It's what happens as you get old.
That being said, it's great that you got to see snow for the first time. Did you get to see any snow fall from the sky?

If you buying that new snowblower is keeping the snow away this year, thank you very much, I'm loving this wierd warm winter!

It's pretty special when you first see snow, that's for sure.

Hi Alan,
For us here on our property, we have two deep wells that have submersible pumps lowered into them.
They automatically fill huge water reservoir tanks that store our water.

The water is very clean and free from any dangerous deposits, we have it analysed every year.
This water originates from the high mountains of NSW and travels underground for miles and miles.
The wells are around 100 metres deep and we have some of the best water available.
We can't/won't drink city water, it tastes awful with all that chlorination (and other stuff) and thankfully we don't have city water supply available to us so we rely on our wells.

Hi yah Pman,
We heard that it's been unseasonably warm over there, it must feel so weird to have a warm Christmas.
We're used to having scorching Christmas days usually (between 86° to 95° F).
On the odd occasion we may have a cold snap of around 72° F for Christmas. :crackup:

As for snowfall, unfortunately when we went up the mountain, they had a fresh snowfall earlier but we missed it, we didn't get to see snow falling.
Oh well, one day, I'm hoping to go back and experience it.

It must be such a change for you not to have snow in Christmas.
 
OK I think I should say happy new years instead of Merry Christmas now
