Just a random thought that come to mind?

who thinks it would be awesome if we had a LPF User only section? theres a few reasons why it may be benefit us and probably a few down sides

Obviously poachers(non LPF members) cannot post in all sections/threads but they can read our inputs, Poachers tend to be the majority reading from our forums!!!!
We also have a Veterans Section where Only The Vets can read/post

But what if we had a section where you have to be a LPF member to even read the threads in the section even better if we could have a 20-50?? post count before you can get into the section to stop people making quick profiles just to scope that section(if it did happen) it would be cool to have, providing we do not abuse it!

Just an idea anyway

I Cant make it happen but maybe WE can.....
Thankz for reading!

We will have a lot of spamming folks trying to get in to read that section. Which will create problems for mods. Personally, I don't have a problem with the "poachers" simply because if they don't want to talk I don't want to make them. There might even be a lot of annoying as hell people trolling the forums. One mustn't wake a giant.

I'm all for the forums staying open.

Yes That Does make alot Of sense Isaac!
thankz for the Input

I am all for the forum to remain open, can't really see what would need to remain out of the non members eye's. Before I became a member i visited a couple of times and looked around and was impressed enough to want to become a member.
I do hear though that in the "Veterans" section they have multiple links on where to obtain ALL the rare wavelengths at really cheap prices (Because they are Veterans) and most of them have so much surplus that they just give to each other all their extra's! I think they even have a secret handshake for when they meet!:na:

And they all wear gold rings with a V on them and they all have a special laser that is unknown and not available to the rest of us.

Lol sure, we have links to multiwatt 476 diodes, 3$ 1W 520's, and information on a projector with a thousand diodes in it :na:

Veterans secrtion isnt some elite group of filthy rich members, its just what it says: forum veterans.

Eh, don't see much of a point. As WBS said, it would create problems of spamming if there was an entrance requirement, like how the B/S/T 20 post rule has created spamming.

As for the vets section, not much exclusive interesting stuff there. Mostly complaining about noobs and people asking for pics of Jakes GF.

The vet section isnt anything special. I was looking forward to seeing it but its just like the normal forum. Occasionally someone might offer an item for sale to vets first but in reality most vets want to build their own stuff so you all see it in the BST section.

Idk what I tgink about the LPF section. I mean you have to register to post anyways so why limot what people can read? IMO stuff like why WL sucks needs to stay public so idiots dont continue to buy them

This thought was probably aimed at open-source projects meant to benefit the community, but the way I see it, if it is open-source, our friends in China will start making these items that our bright forum members planned and released. While in spirit, they are doing so for profit, which goes against the usual spirit of open licensing, it still ends up benefitting us as we then get to buy premade drivers of less questionable quality at single quantities.

On the other hand, these folks are simply taking an open-source project and building lots of 'em and selling them for profit, not the way open-source was meant to roll.

Ah the elusive black laser...

On subject though I am quite surprised these forums aren't more of a closed nature than they are. I'm on many forums, some of which are completely innocuous like street lighting forums, that have private member only sections. Then there are the forums for subjects that while morally intact, are legally questionable, like Urban Exploration, that have not only private sections but sections like our vet area too. Given that the authorities seem determined to not stop until all us mere mortals can own is a <1mW red cat toy, I'm really surprised this forum isn't a lot more closed than it is.

My review videos are already quite well hidden on Youtube (not available in search) and I try to keep my sig as discrete as possible, if I ever get wind of tightening laws here I'll be removing it altogether. IMO it'd be good if non members didn't have access to sigs or user profiles.
