FrozenGate by Avery

Look what I just got in the mail, a host designed and built by ArcticDude.

Any chance we can get a link to the actual switch!

Here's the actual switch board & button. :p

Awsome mate,
That’s a hell of a lot of work for a switch, I’m going to PM you I think you might be able to help me with something!

Chris, If you're going change that Green led PCB, just dismantle the parts in reverse image order ^---^

You could get a N-465 and a blank 25mm module, or ask DTR to build one with a driver.

I've never used that diode but BobMc has.

I was just looking at his N-465 offerings, then I started thinking about the NUBM07, if I use that 3X beam expander, the ball lens can remain on the diode and then use the adjustment on the expander to focus exactly right, correct? I've never had one of those expanders to see, but I believe they are adjustable?

I first thought you were talking about M462..
Bob said that N465 has very nice beam with 3-element lens!

I was, but the more I look around the N-465 appears to be a better choice, or the 07E if when leaving the Gball on and the Sanwu 3x BE can be adjusted to make up for being slightly out of infinity focus.

Wow, a lot of posts here since last I looked. Thanks for showing that host broken down with the switch board, Tero. You do very nice work. I can now see how the two LEDs work by rotating the board. I hope you are able to build in this host before you leave for Qatar, Chris. Might not have enough time, though, from what you've said.

Oh, thanks Paul! :thanks:

Nicely done switch/LED assembly ArcticDude--stable, rugged, trouble free design easily repairable/changable if needed----well thought out :gj:.

I'm remiss in not applauding Tero's excellent skill and artistry sooner. Ditto his most kind generosity. Please Take Care. :D

You don't want to use the 3XBE with the nubm07 if you leave the GBall on, all the 07 diodes I've owned had the GBall grind that makes a very wide spot, I can use the 3XBE on some maybe 25% of NUBM06 diodes that have a small spot print.

You can remove the GBall and the divergence of the 05, 06, 07 are all like the NDB7A75, about twice the line width of a 7875/7475/m-140 and the 44/08 are triple the line width of the 7475/7875/m-140

Example of a small spot print is a spot projected from the intact GBall that's 5mm x 25mm at 15 feet but the 07 diodes are often 25mm x 50mm at 15 feet.
In essence they are both 25mm wide but the 07 is so far out of infinity focus that the bar height is 10x as high, 50mm vs. 5mm so shrink both by 3.3x and the 06 now makes a 1.5mm x 7.5mm spot and the 07 through the 3XBE makes a 7.5mm x 15mm spot at 15 feet through the 3XBE with the GBall intact.
