That's an outrage! We can't wait a couple days :p. Slap it in a random heatsink, and see what it can do! I'm bettin 1100mw+

Ok you motivated me...

I can just swap out the heatsink when I get my copper material.

Hmm that one doesn't seem to be as efficient as some of the other A140 diodes. Still gonna be an awesome laser. I love that kit your putting it in.

Yeah I was hoping for more...

But I guess I'll still keep it around...

Actually, I just compared the beams side by side with my 530mW build, and I was happily surprised to find that even at 950mW's, my new build in the Stainless Steel 18650 kit is a bluer diode! (darker blue visually) Makes the other one look kind of violet when side by side...

So that makes me very happy with it! :)

Hi. jayrob.

I know your A140 is from Dan @ PL just as mine. But the power of your A140 doesn't match mine..
I don't think all two of my A140 are freak simutaneously.
Good luck for next one. Jay. ;)

When EF's GB for A130 ended, he informed GB of PL.
I know a few member of LPF participated there.
But there are few of the data of A140 now.
I wish many member will get good results and there will be GB of A150....

Here's some beam comparisons! (with smoke)

The camera doesn't seem to show the 'bluer' beam that I mentioned. Maybe because of how much more bright it is...

But with the eye, my 950mW A140 build is bluer!

I have noticed that at lower powers the color appears more violet and at powers >1watt it seems to be more blue. This is within the A130 diodes I have used.

I didn't notice any differences between low and high power with mine.
Also, in smoke the beam shows up blue as can be, but without, it normally looks very purple

Plenty of diodes shift in wavelength with power, maybe that's the case here too.
F.ex the 7mw 635nm diodes output 640-645nm when overdriven.

^ I agree, my reds always seemed to shift to orange-red at higher powers. So, the deeper blue shift would probably be real for higher power. Even though they are monochromatic devices(diode lasers as opposed to multiline gas types), they probably hop wavelengths slightly as power increases. It's also possible for one observer to be more sensitive visually to certain wavelengths or not, depending on what their rods and cones perceive.

You can update my diode's runtime to ~3hours, still alive. I'm also using a small fan on the heatsink.

I had made a post over on the Post your mA and mW # 202. Here is a condensed version for your chart. Used regulated bench PS and G-1 glass.

SHIN, what meter do you have for your measurements?

Just checking, because if it's an optical meter, that would explain your high numbers...

@Jayrob, I see the exact same thing when I compare my 800mw to my 500mw. The 800 not only seems much brighter, but alot bluer. When viewing side by side the 500mw almost looks violet.
