Proper eye protection needed: Just a warning. (In case you may be a beginner) Read up on proper eye protection...
AixiZ module: You will not use the back 'barrel' part of the AixiZ module. All that is needed with any decent heatsink, is the front 'business end' of the module.
Note: I do not sell complete lasers. My kits do not include laser diodes or laser modules. You must buy your own laser diode and/or green laser module to complete the assembly. (Most kits have a 'Hot' option for the driver installed and current set, which is most of the work)
For a 445 build, you can get your diode pre-installed into an AixiZ module with lead wires soldered on from daguin or DTR.
In that case, you will just connect your diode leads, to my driver leads... ('Hot' option kit)
This host will also work for DTR's modules with driver attached. Specify this when ordering. See below...
I'm calling this one my Stainless Steel 18650 kit... It is available with all of the normal options as my other kits. (except the tritium marker - I don't want to machine into the nice stainless steel finish)
My design uses the pill of the host. The threaded pill offers very good contact and heat transfer to the host. (all of my kits are designed for DIY)
And believe me, the heatsink is plenty massive in this awesome host!

Maxed V5 'Hot' option: For a maxed out V5 FlexDrive 'Hot' option, I will not drill out the top of the pill, but will thermal glue the driver upside down inside the pill. To the bottom side of the top 'flat' spot that the stock emitter is mounted on... (specify when ordering the 'Hot' option)
The build style is the same as most of my other kits...
Utilizing the stock pill to mount your driver into, and then threading it into the head with the heatsink...
Tip: I find that just 'pinching' the pill and heatsink together (to keep them from turning separate from each other), and then turning the head with my other hand makes for an easy assembly. Then you just use the tips of some needle nosed pliers on the solder blobs or two notches on the pill to give it the final tightning. You want the heatsink tight. Because if it is not tight, then it could turn while focusing. And also, if it is tight with the pill and host, then the heatsinking will be better...
EzFocus Adapter available:
If your ordering an EzFocus adapter, let me know what lens you will be using. Because I can custom thread it deeper to fit the AixiZ 405 lens. See here:

Fitting for DTR's driver attached modules:
This host is a nice fit for DTR's modules that already have a driver attached...
It means just customizing the heatsink and contact board to be used without the stock pill.
You will not be using the pill with a DTR module that has the driver attached.
My custom heatsink will be sized to be held in place when the head is screwed onto the barrel. You will just connect the module driver leads, to my battery contact board leads... (first remove the back 'barrel' part of the module to make more room - back barrel not used)
Depending on which driver your module has, you can use either 2 X RCR123 batteries, or an 18650. Battery position - Case negative. (negative end of batteries towards tail switch)
* Stainless Steel DTR module kit (aluminum heatsink) - $59 (DTR module not included)

Then just connect the diode lead wires, to the driver lead wires using some heat shrink tubing to insulate...
The trickiest part for the assembly, will be to thread the pill/driver, together with the heatsink/module (and diode), into the head of the host as one assembly without letting the heatsink turn separately from the pill. This would obviously twist the wires.
One method, is to pinch the heatsink and pill between your thumb and which ever finger fits in through the front of the host, hold them tight together between your thumb and finger, while turning the head of the host with your other hand until it is all the way in place.
Then, just a final tightening of the pill (make sure front of heatsink is centered with the host) with the tips of some needle nosed pliers to make sure it is tight. (can't have the heatsink loose, it will twist while focusing)
If there are no slots in the pill for the needle nose tips, then you can always 'snag' the solder blobs with the tips. You just need to get the pill 'snugged up' against the heatsink as good as possible.
The best method I have found for install (or dis-assembly), is the use of this nice tool that I made... (made from brass)
With this tool, I can thread it into the AixiZ module after it is mounted in the heatsink, and ready for final assembly. The diode will not get touched by the tool...
I thread it in hand tight, then stand the tool upright with it through the head of the host.
It is easy to put pressure on the 'pill/heatsink assembly' using this tool. (to keep them from turning separately from each other)
Then just use your other hand to turn the head and get the assembly in place.
After the final tightening of the pill, you can just unscrew the tool from your module.
And of course, it is a great tool for dis-assembly as well...
It is an especially useful tool if working on really small builds, such as pens or Key Chains...
It is solid brass, then machined to size, threaded for AixiZ, and drilled at the tip for diode clearance. I offer this tool for $23 dollars plus $3 dollars shipping if anybody is interested...
