Most probably a 'C' sized battery (depicted 25500, could also be 26500). The C cell is 60 mm taller than the AAA cells, but since you get rid of the holder this is generally no problem.

You get a similar effect when replacing a 3 AA cell holder with a single D cell - it usually fits just fine.

Except that 25XXX or 26XXX is going to be far too large of a diameter for replacing a 3xAAA holder. It won't fit in the same compartment

The 25500s that I have are about 3mm too big in diameter compared to the 2 3xAAA holders that I could find around the house. Well, an 18500 should be a bit better capacity-wise, and still fit. But it's wasting a lot of diameter to do that way. Something like a 22500 would be idea. They just don't seem to exist anywhere other than here:

Careful charging a 10180 on that TrustFire. I think that charges at like 500mA, which is probably like 5 or 10C for those tiny cells.

Yeah, the 18500s would be your best bet then. I know AW sells some...
As for the 22500s, minimum quantity from that seller is listed at 1... so buying 1 or 2 should be possible, no clue on the price tho.

The tiny 10180s are 90maH and so that's about 5.5C... I monitored them closely, took em out @ 4.15... they didn't get warm or anything suspicious. Also, if they were to fail, I doubt they'd go out with a bang... more like a puff of smoke.

All those small cells I have are LiCo (from AW)... dunno if that affects their charge/discharge rates, but they're doing fine so far.

I will put this to good use.

I already figured out the number sizing first time I got a Li-Ion was an 18650 I stuck my calipers on it out of curiosity, and made the "xx" width "xxx" height connection right away, but I didn't have a point of reference till now on what sizes were available.
I used to just randomly punch numbers near what I need, and see if they make a cell close to that size.


On that note be aware that most CR123's are 3v, and 16340's are 3.7v depending on the charger could be over 4v!
If the device you are using cant take that extra .7v, or 2x=1.4v, or 3x=2.1v (you get the point) you will burn it up!
Figured that out too late with a $70 Fenix Torch I used to have. burnt the driver out in seconds

I'm using them for a host designed for 3x CR123's but I have 16340's and I was making sure the size matched. The host will be used for lasers

Seems to vary on the host and holder... i've seen lights where you could easily fit 2 C cells in place of th 2 3xAAA holders. Perhaps the bore was just on the large size to begin with.

I suppose its easy enough to test with a cheaply available C battery before you order a lithium cell to replace the 3xAAA holder though.

Not necessarily because as much as the holders vary in size.... "c" equivalents in the LiIon world are all over the place with dimensions.... Same for d cells... Using regular cheapo alkalines will give you an idea of the fit... But you might have surprises when you switch cells.

RHD: measure the dimensions of the volume you would like to fill. Find the next standard sized cell available that fit those dimensions. (AABBC AA: diameter, in mm, BB: length, in mm)

In the last 20 minutes, I've seen you post a link to those cells, I've seen those same cells used in someone's "pistol" build (on this forum), and I've opened a package from BestInOne.net that contains two of those cells that I apparently ordered at some point a few months ago.

The universe is weird.

The 22600 is likely the best substitute for a 3 x AAA holder for something very close size wise. It's larger than the 18500, & pretty close to an 18650 in capacity. Remember the Hotlights Hosts? I used to use the 22600s in those, since an 18650 was too long to fit, no matter how much spring you cut off the end cap. Some places make you buy 2 of them per order. And since they're not as widely available as an 18650 is you'll pay a bit more per battery. Although at $8.65 per battery from Kaidomain they seem to have the best price on them. I was paying $22 for a two pack.

rhd, how about 2 cr2 batteries? im doing a build too in which there is a 3x aaa holder but 2 16340 batteries or even 1 18650 battery dont fit so im going to buy 2 cr2's. would that fit?

2 x Cr2's will be too big.

I said I hought they were the same size as 16340's in pm to you Daawood, but they're a bit smaller at only 27mm tall. 2 of those on end will be 10mm too big.
