If you're looking to replace 3xAAA with lithium ion, you really want to go with 1x cell, in order to roughly match voltage.
From what I can determine, this implies a 22500, which is pretty difficult to find. As has been mentioned by others, I think an 18500 is the runner up.
2x CR2 doubles the voltage, as does 2x 14250. Bridging two of the three AAA slots and going with a single 10440 would significantly impair capacity.
Frankly, I'm really really surprised that we can easily get obscure sizes like 17670, that don't seem to have an obvious use-case, but something like a 22500, which would be a clear size replacement for a 3xAAA holder and also closely approximate the voltage of such, is hard to find.
