Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Poor communication from Dr. Lava... over a week before he shipped them, didn't acknowledge my request for presetting the currents.

Disappointing transaction.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Have you ever thought of the possiblity that dr lava might have been busy with his own life? :-/

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Yes, I certainly have and am fully open to an explanation, however that doesn't diminish my feelings of frustration with this transaction.

If Dr. Lava's got things going on in his life that affect his ability to be communicative and provide decent service, then he should update his thread to give us the heads up, or take a break from offering these until he's able to provide proper service.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask this of anyone who's running a business, however small or hobby-oriented. To me, it feels unprofessional and discourteous.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

This is a little off topic, but WHAT THE RANDOM??? :o Is it just me, or did two of my posts and one of Spyderz get replaced by the advertisement 4 posts back? My post count went down by two... Any explanation? :-?

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Is Dr Lava still around? I ordered a lava driver on 18th April and it's not arrived yet, plus my PM about it hasn't been read yet.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

please PM me if any more posts are lost in this thread

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Hey guys! don't know about lost posts but earlier this week I sent out another batch, Kloan's and adamr's included. Sorry I only check my PMs about once a week.. If you want to be sure to get your drivers preset.. then order them that way. Often times PM communication is just too sporadic and I'm not at my order computer to be able to change your order.

after you have placed an order, you can use the order communications to contact me often times, then it is clear who you are and what order you are contacting me about :)

thanks!

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

due to an earlier request, here is a photo of the resistor soldering of some preset drivers. Note that in all of these pics, I didn't try to solder to the round contacts to the left of the resistors, but you can if you want, no big deal. The round contact with the hole in it to the bottom left is covered in silicone, so if your solder won't stick to it, don't worry just focus on soldering to the resistors.

settings.jpg

1) 115mA: bottom resistor removed and left solder pad connected with the one above it.
2) 150mA: bottom two resistors left sides soldered together
3) 420mA: For these I have found the easiest adjustment range is to just connect the left sides of all 3 resistors and leave the 4th resistor unconnected. Again here, your solder blob ca ninclude the round pads to the left, no big deal.

For currents 450mA and above for easy adjustment you should to connect the 4th resistor as shown in the manual.

Finally, note that these diagrams only show the range selection. You still need to adjust the pot to your desired current using a dummy load, which are now available just not listed yet.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Thanks, I was the one requesting that. Your 420mA-method "connect the lower 3 resistors" is not in the manual, what current range does that give?

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Hi, ok thanks.

The triple resistor setup gives a useful range of about 155-600mA, so 420 falls in there nicely.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Great news. That should be added to the manual; I guess I wasn't the only one who was missing a range between the 108..412 and 412..1500mA settings!

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Hey Dr. Lava,

I ordered a FlexDrive preset at 300mA about two or three weeks ago via paypal, did you get the order? If yes, when can I expect shipping? The driver is the last component missing from my laser build. :)

Thanks in advance,
ThunderBird

Hi there. Yes I did get your order and processed it about a week ago. Because you are international there is no delivery confirmation with your shipment (costs $21 extra) but via the 'slow boat' you should receive it in a week or so.
thanks for your order

Great, thank you! One question: does the preset driver still have the pot, so I can fine-tune the current setting after I receive it?

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Yep, preset drivers still have pots, they just have ben marked on the back and set to your current.

Hey man. I got your driver a few days ago and last night I was setting the range for the 100ma-312ma setting. And according to the manual scraping off the last resistor and soldering a jumper is what would give you that range but the range I am getting is about 30-110. All my solder connections are good and nothing is wrong there. I am using a test load from rkcstr and everything is set up right there. I don't know what to do since I already scraped the resistor off and can't change the range a whole lot now. Thanks for the help in advance.
