Maybe someone will chime in with a way to do it. Otherwise . . . . .It will be a mystery that only goes up to 90mW

If you're putting it into a leadlight case you might not want to go much higher anyway. There's not as much heat sinking in one of them as in a module. I thought you were working into a module for a scanner.

assuming he is talking about a xbox blu ray diode, they vary and 100mW out of them is very good. You didn't mention any of the other important facts, andy so there is little else to go on. It's strange that you said it wouldn't fit, but seemingly had already fit it in? When overdriving your diodes this much there is no guarantee what you will get out of them.

im really out of touch with diodes and drivers at the moment. ive been working flat out on my scanner for such a long time now.

im going to keep this point so will stick to a duty cycle.

ive not fitted it in yet, im going away friday so probably wont get the pointer up and running in time :(

think ive damaged the driver when i was cutting it down.

i think ive cut the track arrowed.

Just bridge the far end of R10 to the +ve

that's the trace that connects to the output. It's important. If you have turned on the driver with that trace cut, you may have damaged it. You need to solder a wire to replace where the trace went.

Was going to order one in the 32-150mA-range, but then I noticed this text:

Note! the 32-150mA range drivers are available, however you must solder the pot on the board (instructions included).
You can convert one of the100-500mA driver to the 32-150mA range by replacing the pot with a 2x2mm 30k trimmer.

Does this still apply, and if it does, is there any way to get this soldered on? I can't solder SMD, that's why I'm asking.

Nope it doesn't apply to the new V2 boards. Should be soon!!!

How would I go by acquiring one?
