Well dont you worry about having more than just screen shots.
I plan on even making a small video tutorial on how to build a scanner and align optics as well as go into the software aspect.
Im going to be making a new you tube channel for this.
So as far as demo content it will have to wait a bit.
But i cant pay 600$ for pangolin software, i just cant.
And just to let you guys know im buying a second hand copy of LSX and RIYA dac off a member.
Dr.Lava support reselling, not like the others who seem to get pissy when you want to sell what you bought.
But i requested a backup cd of LSX and sent the money and have been in contact with him several times, and its on its way.
Im sorry to hear some of you guys have had such a hard time and i know others had problems to, but the other options are way out of budget or just plain lacking.

I don't know where you guys are getting this 7X figure... QS is $500 if you go through a reseller / dealer.

LSX basic lite whatever is $130 + $20 (i think) for the dongle + $35 (if you aren't in the US) + $150 for a DAC... Thats $335... so for $165 more you get QS (which comes with the hardware).. LD2000 on the other hand... :p

thats if you want to use the riya dac.
and for the people in the us its only around 150$ max.
But for people who are running on sound cards and want a better option this is one of the better choices.

$150 + 150 = $300 still... A Riya or a complete sound card costs you about the same... The sound card is a pain in the ass.

You can't really compare the cost of software to the cost of a complete package...
That's kinda like saying this PC case with a computer in it is 10 times more expensive than this $80 PC case.... Sure it's true but it's not the same thing...

Ever a DAC from parts is still $95 and you don't get a complete system like you do with QS or Ryia and you have to futz around with parts...

EDIT: both products are quite a lot of money.. and if you're not in the US you get raped on the shipping... When I had to choose I decided the extra $200 (well $160 some since I am not in the US) was worth it to be with one of the top companies in the business.

a used sound card dac can be gotten for around 50 to 75$, working tuned and not a kit.
you can build your own correction amp for a few $$ and the sound card only costs 15$
or buy kit with parts for 40$
plus 3$ shipping
so total 55$ new.
plus lsx your looking at half the price of pangolin software and hardware.
I think you have your prices a little high how can a complete sound card go for 150$ maybe i read that wrong but thats way over priced.

I never found them that cheap.. Most people don't seem to sell them for under $100 from what I have seen... But even then you are comparing used hardware to new hardware..

Adam (300Evil) over at PL charges $150 for a tested and tuned SC DAC which is where the SC DAC tutorial thread here said to get them..

Anyway whatever. Doesn't matter.. I made up my mind, everyone else can choose to do what they want.

IMHO I think all these "hobbyist" software devs that are clearly not interested in running a business should offer their software as donation-ware. I mean LPF gets tons of donations without forcing people to pay to use it... Then they would have A LOT more users and the community in general could support it and they wouldn't have to deal with support themselves unless they wanted to, they wouldn't have to deal with generating licenses and dealing with basic paying customers and if they really wanted to they could offer pro versions with some of the more fancy features and stuff and they would only have a few pro people and they could provide them proper support for. I still don't understand why you can't just download the LSX demo off their site.

a audio dac can be build for much less than 150

i think he has some miss information or just not enough.
Only one sound card dac goes for 150$ but you can get it cheaper as a kit.
Or you can go with the Dr.Lava soundcard dac correction board and only pay 43.
You might want to read more about these things.
Members have even posted diy correction boards for as cheap as 10$
so you could get a dac for as low as 30$ if you do it yourself.
And there is nothing wrong with a used dac vs a new one.
they last over 100,000 hours, so saying well its been used so its not fair to say even tho there are several for sale. even i have one of those 150$ sound card dacs for sale and its only 75$. as do several other members.
Plus lsx works with more than one piece of hardware.
You can use multiple different combos.

A RIYA DAC alone is lots more than it seems from DR Lava. He wants 160$ for it (Without a LSX purchase) and then 35$ for shipping. Shouldv'e gone with Pangolin from the beginning.

Not that I will ever purchase from DRLava again, but when can I expect the review of LSX kiyoukan?

You are a little miss informed also. That "ONE" sound card DAC is pretty much the only option as far as new, assembled SC DAC in this and PL community. Also, Adam doesn't sell the kit anymore, only assembled DAC. And, it isnt a cheap DAC on these boards, it uses the higher priced more expensive DAC chip (+/- 12v).
When was the last time you saw any kind of quantity listed for the laserboy correction amp on Dr. Lava's website. Not in a while, my money was sitting in his account for weeks before I complained about no communication and had it refunded. It wasnt till then that Dr.Lava removed the quantity which still showed in stock. Why are we compairing bargain second hand prices, Im sure ones been sold for $50 used before doesnt mean thats what It costs for the DAC?

I guse if you want an assembled dac that will be the only option as far as SC dacs are concerned.
But i dont think most members here are against building there own.
If your building a whole projector whats one more part?
I think the cost of the sound card setups are decent.
IMHO the audiolase boards are not worth the money.
i had both of them and the difference was only a minor scan angle.
IDK about quality control but the circuit is so simple a trip to the shack and you could build one.
When is the last time from pangolin for under 300$ you could get a fully working setup?
LSX 129$
RIYA 145$
Shipping 7$ (usa)
Total: 281
And if you get 5 people together you can get 30$ off the price.
It has been done before on here.
Discount price 251$ shipped.
So the option to spend 500 to 600 or spend 250 to 281 to me is simple.
i would rather have inferior software and better hardware than to have amazing software and cut the budget on my laser hardware.
If you have a HUGE budget i would recommend pangolin but if are limited i would suggest you look at some other options.

Never, but it's a VERY well supported platform with loads of shows in the Pangolin Show space

LSX 129$
RIYA 145$

Yeah, and he rips off the international folk for 35$ shipping.

The RIYA hardware is inferior to the FB3. (At least for the 145$ option you listed)

Last thing: Support is limited if not at all and shipping times are dismal. I don't have a lot to spend on Software/DAC's either, and QS seems like the better option here.

Respectfully, we are building laser projectors here, some of us with 3 or more colors. Where the DAC/Software is something like 10% the total projector cost. Do you really want to bottleneck your projector by skimping on the hardware/software configuration? Also don't understand how an Audiolase DAC which is pretty much equally comparable to the Riya cant be justified at the same price, at least with the audiolase you have a couple more channels to do something with. Anyways, I got my QS+FB3 for 468$(can't disclose my source) brand new shipped, and it was at my door 3 days after I placed an order. Time is money, placing an order and having to wait weeks before receiving it form a couple states away sucks. And piece of mind has a price also, I am confident my future laser problems wont be due to dac/software, and if I do have a problem, i'll be backed by something like 25 years of experience and some of the best customer support out there(nothing else on my projector has that kind of support).I hear ya tho, if ya cant afford it ya cant afford it.

eh but for 468 i can have 30k scanners audiolase dac(used) badpip 4 channel driver and basic lsx

EDIT: 190+75+97+129=483 close enough
