laser dictionary????

Hey all,

can some body point me in the direction towards a refference tool that explains some of the laser lingo? ex.. TEC, LOC, stuff like that. some of it i manage to put together but its tough. :-/

I'm also relatively new to the field and I'm finding these two sites quite helpful. Wikipedia is also a very nice source too!

TEC= Thermal Eletric cooling.
LOC= Long open can( Red diode)

Opto= Optotronics (good laser company)
LG= Laserglow (good laser company)
Nova= Novalasers (good laser company)
WL= Wickedlasers (bad laser company)
TL= Techlasers (Wickedlasers' alias, bad)
DX= Dealextreme (cheap Chinese stuff, inc. lasers)
KD= like DX (more cheap Chinese stuff)
LC= Laser Community (WL's crap forum, full of censorship)
PL= Photon Lexicon (laser forum)
SF= Spectra Forum (laser forum)
LE= Laser Enthusiast (laser forum, harsh rivalry with c0ldshadow)
CPF= Candle Power Forums (flashlight forum, with a lasers section)

I think that covers a lot of it. Anything else?

The funny thing is, you don't know whether you are actually typing "the" or a swear word...like when someone says "the you!", it always makes me wonder whether they actually typed out the swear word. Probably.

Yes:

GB = ? What it mean GB diodes?
Bare Diode = what they mean?

Also, can you post KD website? Is the same as DX?

Bare Diode I'm assuming is a diode already extracted from sled, so it's by it's self and not in a module.

aha.... GB = sleds are considered "Defected" and only the diodes and a few optics are good?

GB = Group Buy (where a number of members pool their money together to buy from a wholesaler)

While there have been some group buys for "defective sleds", really anything can be bought in a group.
