Laser Christmas Tree

Ya, love playing with mirrors!

A friend and I were daydreaming the other day.. Of course, this idea brings up duty cycle and power issues, but, wouldn't it be a pretty sight..

Arrange mirrors on your roof just so, then instead of hundreds of Christmas light bulbs on your house, you could have beams along and around your roof, weather permitting.

That's funny, I was thinking about that the other day too!!!

@Silvershot - The mirrors used are very cheap and simple. At a local surplus store, I found 6x8 inch plastic mirror sheets. These are about 1/16" thick, flexible, and can be cut with heavy scissors or tin snips. I cut 13 chunks of mirror, peeled off the protective covering, and hot-glued them to some large hard plastic washers which serve as bases. My carpet is fairly stiff, so things miraculously stayed in alignment once placed.

As far as more colors go, I probably should have fed green into one end of the mirrors like I did, but I should also have fed red in from the other end. Maybe I'll do this when I build it on the wall for next year ...

Hope everybody had and is still having a good holiday !

Yeah, I took it apart already. It was kind of in the way in the middle of the floor. That's why I want to build it on the wall for next Christmas.

Knowing Bill, he will most likely carve it out a wall next year, since he already had 100 W diode bars :D

Or at least draw it with a scanner :D
