I'm curious though. For whatever reason you COULD make 473nm lasers how much would a 5mW cost? A 5mW from glenn's gb is 315 shipped (I think. It's not more than 350). If it's less than that I might want one.

Did you mean with "dichros and turning mirrors and what-not" or did you want actual crystal conversion of IR light?

Well, dichros and turning mirrors dont make "true" 473nm blue.

Dark, I'm genuinely interested because it may cost less if you do it: could you build me a 20k 100-400mW g/rgy laser show. All analogue. My RGV only has 2 analogue lasers. Also (depending on how much it costs) I want it to be CDHR compliant(safety features, ect. )

I could be wrong here, but I believe for CDRH and FDA compliance a submitted design must be approved and given an ascension number, and I am sorry, please correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe Dark Lasers has ever had an ascension number on any product. not from scratch buddy. with dichros and turning mirrors and what-not. it can be done. you need to readup before you chime in like that, or at least have a quote or something to show when you do. because i never advertised being able to make 473nm lasers from "scratch"... i dont think many people would be able to perform such a task.

That being said, maybe you should read what you right before you go around throwing stones and telling people anything just to make a quick buck
Also im wondering how you can make "True 473nm" laser lasing on 473nm with "dichros and turning mirrors and what-not" Please correct me if im wrong (and i might be) but i dont think that possible.

It takes awhile to "catch" a con. He is very good at "talking" a good game. Unfortunately, most of his "customers" were NooB's that didn't know they were being ripped off. It took awhile for people to start to think that it wasn't really their problem and start asking the veterans questions about what they were being told/sold.

BIG WARNING -- If a builder asks you to pay, in full, BEFORE the unit is built, that builder is a problem.

There are several members out there that sent him money that is now in "limbo." I hope that they paid with PayPal or a credit card

I dont sell lasers at all anymore PERIOD, so sorry for those of you who cant build your own laser, now it's gunna run you a hundred bucks more or so to get one done by IgorT (who i HIGHLY reccomend, does GREAT builds, even makes his OWN drivers from scratch) it's worth every penny, i've seen his builds, and their gorgeous! so give IgorT a shout if you need a laser people.

I am retired permanently (except for my current obligations)

OH AND DAGUIN! i DO always use a middle man *deeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrr* it's called paypal bub. so anyone is 100% free to open a dispute if they ever so desire. And its been this way since day one. I ONLY allow paypal payments. nothing else.

Though i must confess i've had people pay in full before a build was complete (even more now), simply because i don't normally make builds for people, and when i'm asked to make a build i rarely have the funds to purchase the parts that are needed, so i ask for the funds up front to order the parts. the majority of the time though i'll give them the option of simply paying for the cost of parts, and the rest upon completion. could be anywhere from free, up to $50 depending on the person asking for the service and the type of build., for example i'm not going to charge $50 to slide a module into an ehgemus host...more like $20 on top of parts to cover building the module and shipping.
i also got reminded how horrible it is to sell lasers that aren't built yet (the mxdl silvers for example). thank god i'll have them out of here tomorrow and be done with that mess!

I'll go with asking for the "parts" money, especially if the build is being done for free (or virtually so).

However, taking a $600 payment for a laser that he has never built before, and was still trying to figure out how to build, is a bit more than I am willing to accept as an honest business practice.

Also charging Noob's more money (excessive, IMHO obscene money) for the same parts that we all are buying here by calling them "top quality parts that are not available to just anybody" (he said he gets them only because he buys so many) is well beyond honest. See the example I posted in my warning about him above.
